A couple of tablets, countless TWS earbuds, more Gen AI features and… let’s keep space to accommodate surprises. It’s safe to say that 2025 won’t be a lot different from 2024, or the year before.
There will be highlights though and as usual, we have our picks that we would like to talk about in greater depth. Other than some cutting-edge smartphones, 2025 will reward us with more advanced mixed-reality headsets, handheld gaming consoles and, of course, Grand Theft Auto 6!

With that out of the way, let's begin scrolling.

Samsung loves to stick to the formula for its top-tier non-folding smartphones. The Galaxy S25 Ultra is unlikely to budge from the norm but this year, expectations are sky-high on the performance front. The new 3nm Snapdragon 8 Elite chip is expected to give the S25 Ultra a notable performance boost, which could be crucial for the next batch of Galaxy AI features and mobile gaming applications. A better quality display and possible upgrades to the battery stamina could tempt more people from the iPhone camp.
Watch out for more details on the Galaxy S25 Ultra in the early weeks of 2025.
Apple iPhone SE 4th Gen

Do any of you remember the iPhone SE? No need to feel guilty – even tech enthusiasts have forgotten it. In 2025 though, the iPhone SE might make its way back to headlines.
Rumours suggest that the iPhone SE 4th Gen will ditch the dated iPhone 8 platform and adopt a relatively modern iPhone 14 as its base. That means the cheapest iPhone will now have a TouchID system for face unlock, an almost edge-to-edge OLED display, a much nicer camera and more crucially – battery life that lasts! Shutterbugs will need to be contended with a single rear camera but you can assured of it being a good one. The phone is likely to be based on the iPhone 16’s A18 chip and hence, offer incredible value for performance seekers.
Samsung Mixed Reality headset

Ever since the Apple Vision Pro came out, the world has been waiting for Samsung to come up with an equally good and affordable alternative. The wait has been long but Samsung and Google finally revealed an exciting project ahead of the festive season – an advanced Mixed Reality headset from Samsung that runs on Android XR, a completely new headset platform from Google. Google’s demo promises a future that bridges the gap between reality and augmented reality with generative AI and safe to say, it all feels exciting. Certainly more exciting than Apple’s spartan visionOS!
Apple Vision ‘non Pro’

Until the Samsung headset becomes a reality, Apple’s Vision Pro remains the most cutting-edge Mixed Reality headset on sale. It is pricey though and Apple wants to make it more accessible. Hence, rumours of a vanilla Apple Vision ‘non Pro’ headset are doing the rounds on the internet.
While the details are yet to surface, industry insiders have hinted that Apple might be ditching certain flashy features to keep the costs low. It might have fewer camera sensors, no external display, a lower capacity battery, a less capable chipset and could be made out of pocket-friendly materials. These are all rumours though and there’s always a possibility for this to remain imaginary
Nintendo Switch 2
Category: Handheld gaming console
The Nintendo Switch is due for an upgrade and based on the rumours, we could be seeing a new one by March 2025. Expected to be armed with a faster chipset, the Switch 2 (as the rumours say) could offer the same levels of performance as the Xbox Series S! We can only wonder how the developers could avail the added firepower to make Switch games better.
As far as the rest of the specifications and features are concerned, the Switch 2 could be getting a better 8-inch display (most likely OLED), nicer buttons and joysticks, superior battery life and nicer colours. All of that sounds interesting but the gaming community has bigger concerns – will Nintendo make the Switch 2 capable enough to compete with the recent crop of Windows-based handheld consoles?
Grand Theft Auto 6
Category: AAA video game
/hardwire/media/media_files/2024/11/20/gta-6-a.jpg)
This is possibly the only reason why tech enthusiasts are looking forward to 2025! Rockstar Games’ magnum opus in the making is all set to break covers in late 2025.
Rumoured to succeed the blockbuster Grand Theft Auto 5 from 2013, Grand Theft Auto 6 is expected to redefine expectations from an open-world sandbox video game. The first trailer already gave everyone a good glimpse of what GTA 6’s Leonida County and its two protagonists will bring to our screens. Lucia breaks conventions by being the first female protagonist in the Grand Theft Auto universe. Vice City, however, remains the hero of this epic video game, flaunting epic attention to detail and a world full of life!
Fall 2025 can’t come soon enough!
