Xiaomi kickstarts the tech festivities of 2025 with a brand-new budget smartphone. The Redmi 14C comes just weeks after the launch of the Redmi Note 14 series and aims to offer some of its perks at a much lower price segment. Style is the priority here though, as evident from its brand ambassador – Bollywood celebrity Nora Fatehi.

Prices for the Redmi 14C 5G are out and based on what we see, it seems like good value. The Redmi 14C 5G costs INR 9,999, provided you are content with the base variant with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. There’s another variant that doubles up the storage to 128GB and bumps up the price to INR 10,999. The top-end variant comes with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage, costing INR 11,999.

Despite being a budget phone, the Redmi 14C offers a choice of three colourways – Starlight Blue, Stardust Purple, and Stargaze Black.

But what else does the Redmi 14C offer?

The Redmi 14C 5G is Xiaomi's latest entrant in the budget smartphone category.

5G connectivity on budget

The Redmi 14C is based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset and is coupled with up to 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM. The Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 might now be a powerhouse for gamers but its modem is compatible with 5G networks and that makes it a legit choice for Jio and Airtel 5G customers.

LCD thrills in 2025

Being a budget phone, it would be a stretch to expect an OLED panel on an affordable smartphone. Hence, the Redmi 14C 5G comes with a 6.88-inch 720 x 1640 pixel resolution LCD display with a maximum refresh rate of 120Hz. For those who wonder, the panel is rated at 600 nits of peak brightness.

What about the cameras?

The Redmi 14C 5G flaunts a big-phone-like circular camera hump but the actual sensors are not as impressive. There’s a 50-megapixel primary camera with f/1.8 aperture lens. On the front, the handset features an 8-megapixel selfie camera. The secondary camera has an unknown sensor (most likely a depth camera). The front camera features an 8-megapixel sensor for selfies.

Battery is big, as usual

Lastly, with a 5,160 mAh battery, the Redmi 14C promises an entire day’s worth of stamina on a full charge. A 33W wired charger is given as part of the package.

Who should buy the Redmi 14C 5G?

Based on the on-paper specifications, it seems that the Redmi 14C 5G is best suited for those who seek style and 5G connectivity while getting their first-time smartphone or an affordable secondary smartphone.
