The time is coming when Samsung will introduce us to their next generation of flagship Galaxy devices. We are talking about the Galaxy S25 series, which is expected to launch early next year.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 series will consist of three devices – Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25 Plus and Galaxy S25 Ultra. All these devices will compete directly with the iPhone 16 series in India. Apple and Samsung are the top-selling premium brands in India, according to the research firm IDC.

But this year, Samsung’s competitor is not just Apple but several Chinese brands that have decided to launch their flagship phones in India. This includes the Oppo Find X8 Pro, Realme GT 7 Pro, iQOO 13 and the upcoming OnePlus 13.

Now that the Galaxy S25 series launch is just two months away, we share all the leaks and rumours that we know about all three devices.

When is the Samsung Galaxy S25 series launching?

Samsung holds an annual Galaxy Unpacked event for its flagship series. The next Galaxy Unpacked event is expected to feature the Galaxy S25 series. According to a Korean media outlet, FNN News, the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event will take place on January 23 2025 in San Francisco.

Samsung may also launch some other products alongside the Galaxy S25 series at the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked. In its January Galaxy Unpacked event, it announced the Galaxy AI and Galaxy Ring.

Samsung Galaxy S25 series design

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Series will reportedly feature nearly the same design as its predecessors. A user named @Onleaks on X has posted fresh live images of the upcoming Galaxy S25 Ultra. These are dummy units based on leaked CAD renders, so they could be different from the original unit.

The images show off the Galaxy S25 Ultra with black and white rear frames. Compared to the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s sharp corners, the Galaxy S25 Ultra will feature rounded corners that would make it easier for users to hold.

According to Ice Universe on X, the Galaxy S25 Ultra will be 8.2mm thin and weigh 219 grams.

The camera setup of the Galaxy S25 Ultra is the same as its predecessor but this year, Samsung is planning to add some sort of rings around the camera lens. This is similar to what we have seen on the Galaxy Z Fold 6.

The fresh leak reveals the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra in somewhat light green and black colours. It will reportedly be available in four colours: Black, Green, Blue and Titanium. Just like every year, Samsung might introduce exclusive online colour options to attract customers.

The Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25 Plus will also feature the same design as their predecessors but with camera rings.

Samsung Galaxy S25 series specifications

Powered by Snapdragon 8 Elite ‘for Galaxy’

All three Samsung Galaxy S25 series devices will be powered by Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset for Galaxy. These ‘For Galaxy’ chipsets have higher overclocked speeds. The regular Snapdragon 8 Elite has a 4.32GHz clock speed in its prime cores, whereas the ‘For Galaxy’ chips have a 4.47GHz clock speed.

A Geekbench listing has confirmed that the Galaxy S25 Ultra will pack 12GB RAM and boot Android 15-based OneUI 7 out of the box.

Samsung has already confirmed several features of its upcoming OneUI 7 OS. The Galaxy S25 Series will boot OneUI 7.1.1 out of the box, which will feature a live activity bar called Nowbar, a new lock screen media player, new app icons, a new quick panel and multiple animations and effects.

It is expected to bring several new Galaxy AI features, including an all-new AI-powered Bixby Assistant.

It was earlier reported that the Samsung Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25 Plus might feature an Exynos 2500 chip; however, Ice Universe has claimed that all Galaxy S25 series devices are powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, unlike the Galaxy S24 Series.

This could be true since a Galaxy S25 Geekbench listing confirmed that it is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Elite chip.

Same battery, same charging speed

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra will feature the same battery as its predecessor: a 5,000mAh battery pack with 45W fast charging support. Come on, Samsung? At least, now give us a bigger battery.

The Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25 Plus will pack a 4,000mAh and 4,900mAh battery pack, respectively.

The Galaxy S25 Plus is expected to feature 45W fast charging whereas the Galaxy S25 will be capped at 25W charging speed.

These phones may also support 15W wireless and reverse charging.

A new 50-megapixel ultrawide sensor

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra will bring a new 50-megapixel ultrawide sensor, which is said to be a 1/2.76″ JN1. To let users know, Apple also upgraded its ultrawide lens from 12 megapixels to 48 megapixels on the iPhone 16 Pro models.

The rest of the Galaxy S25 Ultra camera configuration will be the same as that of the Galaxy S24 Ultra: a 200-megapixel primary sensor, a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto with 5x optical zoom and a 10-megapixel telephoto sensor with 3x optical zoom.

Both the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25 Plus will feature the same camera configuration as their predecessors. This will consist of a 50-megapixel main sensor, a 12-megapixel ultrawide lens and a 10-megapixel telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom.

All Galaxy S25 series devices will use a 12-megapixel sensor for selfies and video calls.

Size matters! Big display for Galaxy S25 Ultra

Following Apple’s steps, Samsung is increasing the display size of the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Compared to the 6.79-inch display on the Galaxy S24 Ultra, the S25 Ultra will feature a large 6.86-inch display that should be marketed as 6.9 inches, similar to that of the iPhone 16 Pro Max. It will have a resolution of 3120 x 1440 pixels with 501ppi pixels per inch (ppi).

The Galaxy S25 Ultra screen will be equipped with an LTPO AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ standard support.

According to a report by Android Headlines, the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25 Plus will have display sizes of 6.17 inches and 6.7 inches, respectively, similar to their predecessors. Both phones will use an AMOLED display, with the Galaxy S25 having Full HD+ resolution, whereas the Plus variant will feature a Quad HD+ resolution.

Galaxy S25 series price details

We still haven’t received any report on how much the Galaxy S25 series will be priced. The Samsung Galaxy S24 Series had a price hike of INR 5,000 over the Galaxy S23 Series. We speculate that Samsung might implement another price hike with the Galaxy S25 Series.

However, Apple has made a smart move by keeping the iPhone 16 Pro cheaper than the Galaxy S24 Ultra. This could pressure Samsung to keep the Galaxy S25 Ultra in a similar price range.
