Surprise! OnePlus 13 And 13R Now Have An Indian Launch Date

The OnePlus 12 was one of the best selling flagship smartphones of 2024 according to a report from Amazon India. The phone has been a popular choice among consumers because of its flagship grade on-paper specifications. Continuing the tradition, OnePlus has confirmed the launch of its next flagship 13 series globally, including India. 

The OnePlus 13 series includes two variants as usual: the top-of-the-line OnePlus 13 and the more value-centric OnePlus 13R.

The former will compete with the likes of upcoming Galaxy S25 Ultra, the recently launched duo of Oppo Find X8 and the Vivo X200,along with several other flagship devices in India. The OnePlus 13R, on the other hand, will focus on targeting mid-range devices like the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE, iQOO Neo 9 Pro, etc.

OnePlus 13 series launch date revealed

The OnePlus 13 series will launch at the upcoming OnePlus Winter Event, which is confirmed to take place on January 7, 2025. The launch event will start at 9 PM IST (Indian Standard Time), thus making it the first smartphone launch of India in 2025.

OnePlus has confirmed that it will be launching the new smartphones under the 13 series and a new colour of the Buds Pro 3. Here’s everything you need to know about them.

OnePlus 13

Expected Price Range: INR 64,999 to INR 69,999

The OnePlus 13 will be the brand's premium smartphone of 2024. It will replace the OnePlus 12, a device that was one of the best-selling flagship phones during the 2024 Amazon Great Indian Festival Sale.

The OnePlus 13 looks similar to its predecessor and will be available in three colours: Black Eclipse, Arctic Dawn and Midnight Ocean, out of which the last one features vegan leather on the back.

Thanks to its previous launch in China, we are already aware that the device is powered by a 3nm-based Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. The SoC is paired with up to 24GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage.

The OnePlus 13 flaunts a 6.82-inch quad-curved LTPO AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, 4500 nits peak brightness and HDR10+ support. The brand has learnt lessons from its infamous 'green line' saga and is offering a lifetime warranty on new OnePlus smartphones for issues related to the green line. 

The Chinese variant of the OnePlus 13 packs a 6,000mAh battery with 100W wired and 50W wireless fast charging. Globally, It is the first OnePlus smartphone to have IP68 and IP69 water resistance.

Coming to optics, the OnePlus 13 features a triple 50-megapixel rear camera setup, consisting of a main, an ultra-wide and a telephoto lens. On the front, it has a 32-megapixel sensor for selfies and video calls. The device will be able to shoot videos in 4K at 60fps resolution using both the front and rear cameras.

OnePlus has confirmed that the 13 series will run Android 15-based OxygenOS 15 out of the box. The operating system will bring several AI features like Intelligent Search, AI-powered photography tools, etc.

OnePlus 13R

Expected Price Range: INR 39,999 to INR 44,999

The R-series was exclusive to India until 2023 but things changed earlier this year when OnePlus announced the global launch of the 12R. The OnePlus 13R is confirmed to launch alongside the 13 on January 7.

An official teaser reveals the design of the OnePlus 13R and suggests that it will be a rebranded version of the upcoming Ace 5 in India. It will mark the return of a flat display in OnePlus flagship devices and will have the same design as its predecessor including the brand’s iconic alert slider. It will be available in two colours, Nebula Noir and Astral Trail. 

Since the OnePlus Ace 5 and 13R will share the same specifications, we expect the 13R to feature a 6.78-inch 1.5K BOE X2 AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 4,500 nits of peak brightness. It will be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset coupled with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage.

The device will pack a large 6,000mAh battery with 80W charging support. The OnePlus 13R will boot Android 15-based OxygenOS 15 out of the box and will feature the same AI features as the OnePlus 13. The rest of the specifications of the 13R remain under wraps for now.

OnePlus Buds Pro 3

Expected Price Range: INR 13,999 to INR 14,999

OnePlus launched its premium TWS earbuds, the Buds Pro 3, in August this year in three colours. The brand is adding a new Sapphire Blue colour to its portfolio on January 7 to match the aesthetics of the OnePlus 13 Midnight Ocean colour variant. The Buds Pro 3 will also receive an update that will bring AI translation to the earbuds, which will enable real-time translation directly through the earbuds.
