The Indian motorcycle market has been experiencing remarkable growth with increasing consumer interest in performance-oriented motorcycles. Recent launches have showcased the emergence of modern classics and adventure tourers luring more Indians to the road. Cafe racers, however, are still in the minority, with the Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 being the only one in the market. Custom kits for other popular motorcycles, however, are available.

For those who love factory-built creations, Triumph is adding a new member to the fledgling cafe racer community. This one will be based on the 400cc platform that currently underpins the Speed 400 and Speed T4.

Triumph motorcycles now start at only INR 1.99 lakhs for the Speed T4. Adding fuel to the buzz, recent spy shots of a mysterious new Triumph motorcycle have surfaced online, suggesting the imminent arrival of another anticipated model in the 400cc category.

Triumph Thruxton 400 spied!

A video circulating online shows an upcoming Triumph motorcycle that appears to be the rumoured Thruxton 400. Although the spy shots only reveal the motorcycle from the side, there's enough for enthusiasts to go mad (hence this dedicated story).

The Triumph was equipped with a cafe racer-style kit, featuring proper grab rails at the back for the pillion comfort, an upward-swept exhaust and an aggressive seating posture. The low-set clip-on handlebars and the Dolphin fairing could set this motorcycle apart from the Speed 400. The instrumentation, however, seems to be borrowed from the motorcycle its based on. No retro gauges for this retro beauty!

On a side note, was it just us or did anyone find references to the older Bajaj Pulsar 220F in these leaked images? Deja vu!

Triumph Thruxton 400 performance

In terms of power figures, the upcoming Triumph Thruxton 400 is expected to be powered by the same 399cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine. It will be paired with a six-speed gearbox and is expected to produce 39.5 bhp maximum power and 37.5 Nm peak torque. Its excellent price-to-performance ratio and powerful punch make it a top choice for motorcycle enthusiasts exploring the 400cc category.
In terms of suspension, the motorcycle could feature upside-down front forks and a preload-adjustable monoshock on the rear.

Triumph Thruxton 400 expected price

All entry-level Triumph motorcycles get a 400cc engine and hence, the pricing is relatively affordable compared to other exotic foreign brands.

The most expensive option in the range so far is the Triumph Scrambler 400 X priced at INR 2.65 lakhs while the most affordable one is the Triumph Speed T4, which is priced at INR 2.19 lakhs (excluding the offer). The Triumph Thruxton 400 could be the fastest and sportiest one of the lot and hence, we pin our expectations on a price tag north of INR 2.50 lakhs.

Will Royal Enfield sit this out? Based on the Interceptor 750 leaks, we don't think so.
