This festive season will be full of Italian sweetness for Indian motorcycle enthusiasts! Aprilia, in a bid to draw more footfall to its showrooms this Diwali, has decided to spice up its hottest mid-capacity motorcycle in India for a limited time. Think of it as Aprilia's Diwali gift to all those seeking to bring the RS457 home.

Aprilia's motorcycle lineup in India is diverse and the RS457 stands out as one of the most desirable ones owing to its affordability. The idea of a twin-cylinder sports motorcycle for less than INR 5 lakhs is tempting, especially when it has 48 raging Italian horses beneath the tank! Ever since it hit the showroom floors, the RS457 has been selling like hotcakes.

Now, Aprilia is ready to spice-up its hotcake this Diwali.

The Diwali gift from Aprilia

The special 'Diwali-spec' RS457 revolves around the involvement of the quickshifter kit.

The Aprilia RS457 currently comes in two variants: one with a quickshifter and the other one without it.

A quickshifter helps you change gears without engaging the clutch or throttle. The non-quickshifter model initially started from INR 4.10 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) but as part of the Diwali offer, the stock quickshifter variant now starts from INR 4.17 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Riders are getting a bi-directional quickshifter by simply investing an additional INR 7,000.

Previously, the brand was offering the quickshifter facility as an accessory after charging INR 27,999 along with labour costs.

Is the Quickshifter a big deal?

The quickshifter on a motorcycle allows the rider to shift gears effortlessly without the clutch lever. Aprilia's bi-directional quickshifter allows the rider to shift up and down without needing to use the clutch lever.

The benefits are understood better while in pursuit of the quickest lap times on a racetrack or the fastest quarter-mile time.

This deal has made the motorcycle more value for money than ever. More accessible machines like the Apache RR 310 and KTM RC 390 are equipped with a quickshifter as an optional accessory. It only made sense for Aprilia to offer this kit as standard.

However, there's a catch!

The quickshifter is available only for those deliveries happening until 31 October 2024. Post the offer period, the quickshifter becomes optional again. Hence, if you are planning to get an Aprilia RS457, this might be the sweetest time to bag this motorcycle.

Is the Aprilia RS457 worth it?

The Aprilia RS457 is possibly the best option for riders who are looking for a 500cc segment motorcycle with loads of character. In a market that worships the Kawasaki Ninja 500 and Yamaha R3, the RS457 brings a refreshing change.

Considered to be a racebike for track duties, the RS457 makes use of its 457cc dual-cylinder liquid-cooled engine to make 47.6hp at 9,400 RPM and 43.5Nm of torque at 6,700 RPM. A six-speed gearbox ensures a smooth power delivery across the entire rev range, which makes it ideal for achieving peak power and torque throughout the gears at all speeds.

While the 17-inch wheels allow for easy handling, existing customers and critics have often complained about the lack of synthetic brake pads. The organic pads on the RS457 have ample bite force for the roads but not enough for the track.

This bike is loaded with tons of features to put the rider in a comfort zone. It has a gorgeous set of LED headlights and taillamp assemblies. The dual-channel ABS with an anti-rollover system and traction control helps prevent loss of grip under extreme conditions. A five-inch colour display for the instrument cluster allows the rider to cycle through the various riding modes while giving easy access to essential riding information.

Hence, if you are looking for an enthusiast-grade motorcycle to throw around the racetrack keeping all the technicalities in mind, the Aprilia RS457 is definitely worth trying.
