Royal Enfield has done it again, folks. They’ve added another scrambler to their lineup! But hold your applause, this isn’t exactly a groundbreaking debut. The new Scram 440 is here and while the name might suggest it’s a fresh addition to the family, it’s more of a slightly polished elder sibling of the Scram 411. A nip here, a tuck there and woah, a "new" motorcycle! Or so they’d like us to think.
But credit where it’s due, Royal Enfield has clearly been listening to the feedback (or perhaps the confused statements) about the Scram 411, which always felt a bit like the Himalayan’s rebellious twin who couldn’t quite decide what it wanted to be. The Scram 440, on the other hand, seems to have taken those identity issues to heart and come out stronger, literally.
The engineers have waved their magic wrenches and enlarged the bore of the engine, resulting in a 440cc powerhouse. A bit more power, a bit more torque and a lot less head-scratching from potential buyers. It’s not just a scrambler now; it’s almost a proper one! Royal Enfield has cleverly steered this model towards a clearer purpose and it looks like it’s finally ready to hit the dirt, or at least look good while parked at the cafe.
So, while the Scram 440 might not be a revolutionary leap, it’s a confident stride in the right direction. A round of applause for Royal Enfield because while they haven’t reinvented the wheel, they’ve certainly added a bit more spin to it.

The Royal Enfield Scram 440 is ideal for mild off-roading, city commutes and touring. It is a scrambler after all!
Its specifications make it versatile enough for most locations, except race tracks. If you fall into any of the following categories, this could be your next motorcycle:
Travellers
If you’re planning to explore the world without worrying about road conditions, the Scram 440 can be your ideal companion. The motorcycle offers ample power for cruising, a robust 440cc engine and peak torque to handle steep inclines. With a 15-litre fuel tank, you don’t need to worry about frequent refuelling stops. The suspension travel of approximately 190 mm at the front and 180 mm at the rear ensures comfort on long rides. Switchable ABS enhances performance during extreme off-road adventures and the 200 mm ground clearance makes it suitable for most road types.
City commuters
If you’re a rider seeking adventure during your daily city rides, the Scram 440 is a great choice. Rugged Machine Enthusiasts
The Scram 440’s robust build quality is another reason to consider it. Weighing approximately 187kg, the motorcycle uses mostly metal components, contributing to its long-term durability and rugged appeal.
Alternative to the Triumph Scrambler 400 X
The Triumph Scrambler 400 X is among the most affordable scrambler motorcycles but the Scram 440 offers a more budget-friendly alternative. Priced at INR 2,08,000, the Scram 440 is INR 56,000 cheaper than the Triumph Scrambler 400 X. While the Triumph Scrambler 400 X outperforms the Scram 440 in terms of power, it has a taller seat height of 835mm, which may not suit all riders.
The Royal Enfield Scram 440 strikes a good balance between price and performance, making it a compelling choice for a wide range of riders.
