At the beginning of 2024, Honda India introduced the NX500. It has an introductory price of Rs 5.90 lakh (avg. ex-showroom). Plus, this bike follows the CBU route, currently. Keeping the segment and engine capacity in mind, the Honda NX500 can be compared with the Royal Enfield Himalayan, KTM 390 Adventure, and the Kawasaki Versys.
Specifications
The Honda NX500 is powered by a liquid-cooled, twin-cylinder, 471cc engine that produces 47.5hp of peak power and 43Nm of peak torque.
This unit powers the rear wheel via a six-speed manual transmission with a slip-and-assist clutch system. Additionally, this machine is placed between the widely-used diamond chassis. Further, with the in-house built frame, the Honda NX500 should do the ADV job with ease.
Besides that, the Japanese automobile manufacturer has installed a Showa-sourced suspension setup. This setup comprises an inverted (USD) fork at the front and a mono-shock suspension at the rear with preload adjustability.
As far as the brakes are concerned, this bike gets twin disc brakes at the front, rated at 296mm, coupled with a 240mm disc at the rear with dual-channel ABS. It, however, has a Nissin-sourced brake setup.
As for the tyre setup, this Honda ADV is equipped with a 19-inch alloy wheel at the front and a 17-inch alloy rim at the rear. This bike has a tyre profile of 110/80 R19 at the front and 160/60 R17 at the rear.
The NX500 is a successor to the Honda CB500X and the former weighs 196 kg, making the bike 3 kg lighter than the latter.
Being an ADV (adventure) bike, it has a ground clearance of 180mm.
Last but not least, the Honda NX500 stores fuel in its 17.5-litre fuel tank.
Features
On the features front, the Honda NX 500 packs a five-inch fully digital instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity that supports navigation and mobile applications, among others. The digital display also includes a low-fuel indicator, fuel gauge, tachometer, speedometer, gear indicator, shift light, and a digital clock, to name a few.
The USB charging port, however, is an optional feature.
More on features, this bike also allows the rider to disable the traction control when needed. For reference, disabling the traction control can help the rider to get out of certain situations.
Apart from that, the Honda NX500 is equipped with an LED headlight with LED DRLs, an LED taillight, and an LED indicator.

The Honda NX 500 is available in 3 colours: Pearl Horizon White, Matte Gunpowder Black Metallic, and Grand Prix Red.
As for the pricing, the Honda NX500 has an introductory price of Rs 5.90 lakh (average ex-showroom). Currently, there is no direct competitor of this Japanese bike.
However, there are budget-friendly alternatives, such as the KTM Adventure 390, Royal Enfield Himalayan, and the Triumph Scrambler 400 X.
