In the midst of gleaming new Royal Enfields, the Himalayan Scram 411 seems archaic.
Launched in 2022 as a milder version of the mighty Himalayan 411, the Scram 411 was expected to popularise the Scrambler segment in India and encourage urban dwellers to venture out. Sadly though, Royal Enfield couldn’t sell enough of them over the years.
Hence, the news of a Scram 440 hitting the RE showrooms next year isn’t surprising. This time though, it might let go of the Himalayan nametag and the derivative pricing structure to present it as a standalone motorcycle – one that could take the fight to the lightweight scramblers/Adevnture tourers like the Hero Xpulse 200 4V and its upcoming sibling, the Xpulse 210.
Here’s a quick look into what the rumoured Royal Enfield Scram 440 could bring to the table.

Scram 440 by Royal Enfield: What to expect
Before we begin, we’d like to clarify that Royal Enfield hasn’t teased or shed any hint on the Scram 440. This is purely a rumour coming from an exclusive report filed by Bikewale and we are only deriving assumptions/speculations from it.
The Scram 440 is rumoured to be an iterative upgrade over the existing Scram 411. It will reuse some of the parts that worked well with the old bike and change a couple of others that needed refinement. We begin with the engine.
The leak confirms that the Scram 440 will have a new 443cc single-cylinder engine but the internals would be largely similar to the older 411cc motor. Royal Enfield will increase the bore to achieve the larger capacity, which in turn will mildly bump the power output to 25 bhp. There’s a possibility of the upgraded engine producing torque more than 32 Nm.

Not a lot of power from the engine then! But Royal Enfield could be tweaking things elsewhere to make it an accessible on/off-road package for everyone.
While the five-speed gearbox is said to be left untouched, the chassis will be mildly tweaked to make the handling more versatile for urban usage. The cycle parts, however, are said to be the same as the outgoing model.
Also, no digital instrumentation pod like the Himalayan 450. We at Hardwire like that. Nothing feels better than the old-school retro instrument cluster on your neo-retro motorcycle.
Royal Enfield Scram 440 expected launch date and pricing
The Scram 440 will be a part of Royal Enfield’s 2025 launch schedule, possibly in the first half of the year.
As far as the pricing is concerned, Royal Enfield could price it competitively to give the motorcycle a fighting chance against the upcoming Hero Xpulse 210 and all other affordable scramblers in the market. Expect the pricing to be set between INR 2.7 lakhs to INR 3 lakhs – just a slot below the Guerrilla 450.
