The battle of modern scramblers has begun in India. It looks like brands are very serious about scrambler motorcycles. Two iconic brands are gearing up to rewrite the story of new accessible, modern classics.

Royal Enfield has launched the all-new Scram 440, which is a stylish, refined and rugged addition to its lineup that promises to bring mild off-road adventure with amazing city zig-zag excitement. Now, the rider community is excited because of this viral video of the upcoming Triumph Scrambler 400, recently spotted undergoing testing.

Royal Enfield is known for its old-school charm and affordability while Triumph is famous for hyper-mode performance. The brand had launched the Triumph Speed 400, Scrambler 400X and the Speed T4. All these machines are among the most affordable in Triumph's portfolio.

As the scrambler segment becomes a battleground for mid-capacity 400cc motorcycles, these two machines will face serious competition. Let’s dive into the details of the viral photos and videos of this secret Triumph motorcycle.

Triumph Scrambler 400 spotted

The video of Triumph's secret motorcycle has been shared by @onlinetech918 on YouTube. A new Scrambler 400 variant has been spotted and is expected to be more affordable than the present-day Scrambler 400X. If launched, it will be the fourth affordable motorcycle by Triumph under INR 3 lakhs.

It is very obvious that the brand will cut down on certain features to make the motorcycle more affordable. The new Scrambler variant is expected to come with significant cost-cutting to make Triumph more accessible.

In the video, this Scrambler variant of the Triumph features alloy wheels but the design is very different from the Scrambler 400X.

On the front, it has an all-black upside-down fork, an all-black handlebar, a pillion grab rail and a black rear fender. The Scrambler 400X has gold USD forks. Triumph has also made some changes to make the motorcycle affordable, as clearly visible in the video. Instead of split seats, they have installed a single-piece seat. The company also changed the design of the LED tail light and removed the knuckle guard.

The motorcycle carries forward some features from the original Scrambler 400X, like the semi-digital instrument cluster and the 398cc TR Series engine. This engine on the 400X is a single-cylinder liquid-cooled unit that generates 39.5 bhp of peak power and 37.5 Nm of peak torque. There is a possibility that Triumph might give this stripped-down version of the Scrambler the same engine as the Speed T4's. For the uninitiated, the Speed T4 is tuned for lazy power delivery and abundance of low-end torque. We expect this one to make 30.6 bhp and 36Nm of peak torque on the dyno.

The original Triumph Scrambler 400X comes with a price tag of INR 2.64 lakhs and the Speed 400 comes with a price tag of INR 2.4 lakhs. We can expect this motorcycle to be priced around INR 2.45 lakhs considering the threat from the upcoming Royal Enfield Scram 440.

Conclusion

It will be exciting to see how the scrambler community perceives this new watered-down variant of the Triumph Scrambler 400X. Will RE beat Triumph, or will Triumph's Scrambler outperform the Scram 440 due to its lighter weight?

All we can do is wait.
