Recently, BMW launched the new generation 5 Series, codenamed G60. Now, the German luxury automobile manufacturer has also teased the performance version of it, the BMW M5. The company showed the trailer of the M5 via a series of videos uploaded on YouTube and Instagram.

It is also worth mentioning that BMW will offer the M5 in the touring/estate body shape (called M5 Touring), alongside the sedan iteration.

The estate version will compete with the Audi RS6 and Mercedes-Benz E63 S E-Performance.

2025 BMW M5: Design

The new generation BMW M5 has several design cues from the standard 5 Series but with a few distinctive design elements to have the M-specific identity. As always, the BMW M5 will have a sportier and imposing appearance.

The sports saloon will have an enlarged grille with revised M-specific bumpers, plus it will have exclusive ORVMs, brake callipers, disc brakes, aerodynamic alloys, spoiler, and muscular fenders. Both estate/wagon and sedan-based M5 will have diffusers on the rear bumper for stability at high speeds.

Apart from that, this performance vehicle will also have a wide range of exclusive exterior shades.

Just so you know, the full-fledged BMW M cars are also dimensionally slightly bigger than their standard versions. We can expect the same fashion from the upcoming BMW M5.

2025 BMW M5: The Core

According to reports, the new BMW M5 is expected to be powered by a hybrid-based engine, which also powers the BMW XM SUV.

The tried and tested 4.4-litre V8 twin-turbo M-division engineered engine will be coupled with an 18.6kWh battery pack and a single electric motor integrated into the eight-speed automatic transmission. It is also expected that this vehicle will have all the wheels powered (AWD) by receiving an output of 708hbp of peak power and 1030Nm of peak torque.

Moreover, the new iteration will be the heaviest BMW M5, weighing around 2400kg. It is deemed that the added weight is because of the electric motors.

The 2025 M5 is still in the development stage. That said, there will be alterations made to this vehicle before it’s production-ready.
