The dynamics of relationships are evolving as Indian society continues to break free of patriarchal norms and explore modern concepts. One such dynamic is the concept of extramarital affairs which is increasingly finding roots. More married individuals are seeking to explore new people other than their partners in a bid to satisfy their emotional and physical needs.
Hence, it only makes sense for a dating app designed specifically for couples seeking to explore. Luckily, Gleeden exists.
Gleeden has been around for a while, serving married couples seeking to explore new experiences as far as extramarital affairs are concerned. It works a lot like generic dating apps for unmarried individuals like Tinder, Bumble, Happn, etc, except that it is tailored for those who have tied the knot. While anyone can sign up for it, Gleeden exercises greater control over how males and females get to utilise the network.

Gleeden: The dating app for the married
Originally founded in 2009, Gleeden made its way into India lately and has seen tremendous success. The platform has overseen over 2.8 million Indians already, with more being added as you read. Gleeden is made by women for women but it also accepts new registrations from males. Unlike other dating apps though, the dynamics work differently for the two genders.
For women, Gleeden is absolutely free to use. Female members get to exercise greater freedom of whom they choose to interact with. Men, on the other hand, are given limited credits for interactions.
Gleeden’s platform policies prioritise anonymity and user privacy. While the user profile shows common interests, hobbies, photos and more. Once a conversation strikes between two members, the app allows messages, photos and even gifts to be exchanged! The app and its contents are locked behind a privacy PIN code.
Gleeden is available as an app on both iOS and Android platforms but users can also rely on the mobile-centric website.

Is Gleeden morally right to use?
The Gleeden service has been at the centre of multiple controversies over the years, with many flagging it as a service that promotes infidelity among couples and violates the sanctity of the institution of marriage.
Gleeden’s makers, however, suggest that the platform provides a safe haven for those who are willing to explore beyond the confines of their marriage.
Gleeden’s users, however, have a different view of the scenario. “I have been a member of Gleeden since February. I’m in a relationship with kids and I tend to consider myself as being “in crisis”. I’ve met many different people on Gleeden. I’ve had platonic, friendly, love relationships, in different places. Chatting, talking on the phone, sending emails and getting to know new people have been very important for me and very rewarding emotionally speaking. You talk to people more that you would imagine, you confide in them more that you would expect,” says one anonymous user.
“Thanks to Gleeden I live moments of real happiness every day and I spice up my routine," writes another married Gleeden member.
We at Hardwire prefer to stay away from moral policing and hence, we completely leave it to an individual’s conscience to choose what works best for them.
