Mahindra is building momentum for its big Independence Day event, branded this year as Freedom NU, which will take place on 15 August. The company plans to unveil four fresh concepts and share details about its new modular vehicle base, the New Flexible Architecture (NFA).

But before the spotlight shifts to the gala, Mahindra has lined up a surprise. On 14 August, the carmaker will launch a special edition of the Mahindra BE 6, adding extra buzz to its electric SUV lineup.

Teaser Hints at Dark-Themed BE 6

Mahindra recently dropped a teaser on its social media platforms with the caption: “Born in the shadows. Built for the spotlight.” While the clip doesn’t mention the model by name, the coupe electric SUV silhouette and sculpted bonnet are unmistakable. Many believe this version will be called the Shadow Edition.

Like other brands, Mahindra has been embracing the trend of dark editions. Since the BE 6 already comes with a stealth black shade, the special edition is expected to push this further with a matte black exterior accented by subtle contrasts for a more aggressive look.

Cabin and Features

The teaser keeps the interior under wraps, but it’s safe to expect the Mahindra BE 6 special edition to carry an all-black cabin with darker upholstery. Equipment is unlikely to change, meaning buyers can still look forward to:

  • Twin 12.3-inch screens for infotainment and the instrument cluster

  • A fixed-glass panoramic sunroof

  • Premium leatherette upholstery

  • A 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system with Dolby Atmos

Power and Range

The Mahindra BE 6 comes with two battery choices — 59kWh and 79kWh.

  • The 59kWh option produces 228 bhp and 380 Nm of torque, with a certified driving range of 556km.

  • The larger 79kWh pack generates 281 bhp, the same torque, and stretches the range to 682km.

Performance figures are impressive too, with the top-end variant sprinting from 0–100 kmph in just 6.7 seconds. Drivers will also have three modes to choose from: Range, Everyday, and Race.

What to Expect at Freedom NU

Once the Mahindra BE 6 dark edition hits the stage on 14 August, attention will turn to the Freedom NU event a day later. That’s where Mahindra will showcase four all-new concepts and outline plans for the New Flexible Architecture (NFA) platform. Both the special launch and the upcoming reveals underline the brand’s growing push into electrification and futuristic design.
