LG Electronics is getting ready to launch a new high-end television that could change how premium LCD TVs perform. The company has confirmed that it will unveil its first flagship Micro RGB TV, called the LG Micro RGB evo, at CES 2026. With this model, LG aims to push LCD technology beyond current MiniLED TVs and bring picture quality closer to what people usually expect from OLED displays.
A new approach to LCD picture quality
The LG Micro RGB evo is built using LG’s most advanced Micro RGB technology so far. Instead of relying on white LEDs with color filters, the TV uses separate red, green, and blue micro-sized LEDs as its backlight. These LEDs are extremely small and can be controlled individually, allowing the TV to deliver sharper images and more natural colors.
This design helps improve clarity and depth, making movies, shows, and games look more immersive. Because each color is produced directly, the TV avoids some of the limitations seen in traditional LCD panels.
More accurate colors and better contrast
One of the standout features of the new TV is RGB Primary Colour Ultra, a color-processing system designed to display a wider and more accurate range of colors. LG says this makes the Micro RGB evo suitable not just for home entertainment, but also for professional use cases such as content creation and HDR movie viewing.
To further improve picture quality, the TV includes Micro Dimming Ultra technology. This system controls more than 1,000 local dimming zones, allowing the TV to adjust brightness very precisely. The result is deeper blacks, brighter highlights, and better detail in both dark and bright scenes.
Smarter features and personalized experience
Along with hardware upgrades, LG is focusing heavily on user experience. The Micro RGB evo runs on the webOS smart TV platform, which offers several AI-powered features. These include Voice ID, which recognizes different users by their voice, and AI Picture and Sound Wizard, which automatically fine-tunes settings based on viewing habits.
The TV also comes with a personalized “My Page” home screen, making it easier to access favorite apps, content, and settings based on individual preferences.
With the Micro RGB evo, LG is clearly aiming to blur the line between high-end LCD and OLED TVs. More details, including pricing and availability, are expected to be revealed when the TV officially debuts at CES 2026.
