Tata Motors has launched the electric version of the Curvv, called the Curvv EV, priced between Rs 17.49 lakh and Rs 21.99 lakh. These are introductory ex-showroom figures.
The internal combustion engine version of the Tata Curvv is also due for a launch, which is scheduled to arrive on September 2, 2024. On that day, the price list will be declared.
So, let’s read about the offerings of the Tata Curvv, which bridges the gap between the Tata Nexon and the Tata Harrier SUV.
Technical Bits
The Tata Curvv will be based on Tata Motors’ in-house-built ATLAS platform. For those unaware, ATLAS stands for Adaptive Tech Forward Lifestyle Architecture. This platform was showcased at the launch of the Curvv EV.
In addition to that, this platform is engineered to house multiple powertrain options, comprising two turbo-petrol and diesel engines, plus the company also stated that this platform will underpin the future Tata cars, including SUVs.
As for engine options, the notable engine is the new 1.2-litre direct injection turbocharged petrol unit (Hyperion) that produces 123bhp at 5000rpm and 225Nm of peak torque between 1700rpm and 3500rpm.
The rest of the two engine options are Nexon-borrowed - a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol Revotron and a 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel Revotorq engine.
The former produces 118.27bhp at 5500rpm and 170Nm of torque between 1750-4000rpm, while the latter produces 113.31bhp at 3750rpm and 260Nm of torque between 1500-2750rpm.
All three engine options will have a standard six-speed manual transmission and an optional seven-speed DCT automatic transmission.
Features
The Harrier-borrowed features include a dual-tone burgundy and black theme and a four-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated Tata logo. Besides that, the Tata Curvv has connected LED lights (front and rear), flush door handles, alloy wheels, black cladding, a shark-fin antenna, ventilated front seats, auto-dimming IRVM, etc.
It also has a 9-speaker audio system, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a fully digital instrument cluster, a reclining rear seat, a wireless phone charger, and a 360-degree camera.
On the safety front, the Tata Curvv has a hill assist, electronic parking brake, front and rear parking sensors, a tyre pressure monitoring system, six airbags, and a Level-2 ADAS, to name a few.
Rivals
In terms of pricing, the Tata Curvv will rival the Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, and Honda Elevate. However, Tata Curvv’s direct rival will be the Citroen Basalt.
