We have made several reports earlier about one of the most anticipated Tata cars in India. And one of them has finally arrived, dubbed the Tata Curvv. This homegrown electric vehicle has created a whole different segment, as far as the mass market is concerned.

Tata Curvv ICE

The Curvv has a Coupe SUV shape, and this shape was limited to high-end models like the BMW X4 and X6, Mercedes GLE and GLC Coupe, and so on. Just so you know, the BMW X6 is generally considered the first Coupe SUV model.

Besides that, the Tata Curvv will be available in both electric and internal combustion engines. We’ll mention the details about the Curvv EV since the company has launched this first.

Specifications

The electric version of the Tata Curvv is built on Tata Motors’ dedicated EV platform, called the Acti.ev platform, which also underpins the Punch EV. This electric Coupe SUV has two battery packs on offer: a 45kWh and a 55kWh. They have a claimed range of 502 kilometres and 585 kilometres.

The base-spec battery pack produces 150PS and 215Nm of torque, while the top-spec battery pack produces 167PS and 215Nm of torque.

As for the real-world condition, the former can return up to 350 kilometres, while the latter can return up to 425 kilometres.

Both variants of the Curvv EV have a claimed top speed of 160km/h. The company claims this vehicle can sprint from 0-100 km/h in 8.6 seconds.

The standard AC charger of 7.2kW can charge the 45kWh battery pack from 10-100% in 6.5 hours, while the 55kWh battery pack can be charged from 10-100% in 8 hours.

For better efficiency, this vehicle has a level-4 battery regeneration system

The Tata Curvv EV runs on 18-inch alloy wheels, plus it has a ground clearance of 190mm and a water-wading capacity of 450mm. Interestingly, Tata Motors managed to achieve a 50:50 weight distribution.

Features

The Tata Curvv EV is a feature-packed Coupe SUV. It has a four-spoke steering wheel with a digital Tata logo, ventilated front seats, a dual-tone dashboard, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch floating infotainment unit, ambient lighting, and a panoramic sunroof. It also boasts a wireless charging tray, an electronic parking brake, a soft-touch HVAC panel, an air purifier, and a drive mode selector rotary dial, to name a few.

On the safety front, the Tata Curvv incorporates six airbags, all-wheel disc brakes, a 360-degree camera view, traction control, ESC, ESP, and an acoustic sound system. To add an extra layer of protection, this homegrown Coupe SUV also has a Level-2 ADAS, which has a long list of advanced features including adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, high-beam assist, etc.

Marketing

As mentioned earlier, the Curvv will be offered in both EV and internal combustion engine (ICE) versions. However, the company initially launched the EV version, while the ICE version will launch later.
