Maruti Suzuki Swift’s facelift has been making headlines for a while. Now, the brand has officially released a teaser for the fourth-generation iteration of this popular hatchback in India. The car can now be booked with a token amount of Rs 11,000 from Maruti Suzuki’s official website or by visiting their dealerships. The Swift has always been one of the most popular hatchbacks in the country and it now gets a fresh avatar with more features and a brand-new petrol engine.
2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift: Exterior Design
The new generation Maruti Suzuki Swift's design has received many cosmetic changes in terms of looks but the silhouette and platform of the car remain unchanged. With the unchanged platform, the 2024 Suzuki Swift recently achieved a 4-star safety rating at the JNCAP crash test.
The teaser released by the brand reveals a headlamp design with angular LED DRLs which looks similar to the outgoing model. The grille has been left clean with the Maruti Suzuki logo sitting on top of the clamshell bonnet.
The front bumper is also revised and houses the foglamps on the lower part. There is a teaser video on the website which reveals the machine-cut alloy wheel design that looks a little different from the outgoing model. The rest of the side profile of the hatchback looks more or less similar to the outgoing model except for the rear door handle position which is now placed lower on the conventional location.
The taillamp is slightly visible in the teaser which reveals the shape of it. However, the rear design is yet to be seen. We expect a revised bumper and tailgate design to be there when the car officially launches later on May 9th, 2024.
2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift: Interior and Features
As for the 2024 Swift interior, it is still under the curtains but we expect it to offer a revised design and premium touch and feel. It might borrow some of the features from its premium siblings like Baleno and Fronx. We expect the new Swift to get a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment screen. Features like wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, power windows, a connected car technology, etc., are also expected.
2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift: Performance
The most interesting update is going to be under the hood of the new Swift. The car will ditch its four-cylinder petrol unit for a new 1.2-litre three-cylinder unit. It still is a naturally aspirated mill but is expected to provide better fuel efficiency than before while retaining the peppy character of the Swift.
2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift: Pricing and Competition
The third-generation (outgoing model) Swift’s price starts at Rs 6.24lakh (ex-showroom) and goes up to Rs 8.83 lakh (ex-showroom). The new Maruti Suzuki Swift is expected to have a slightly high starting price. The Tata Tiago and Grand i10 Nios have been Swift’s biggest competitors in the market and will continue to be so for this new model.
