The fourth-generation Suzuki Swift recently bagged an impressive four-star safety rating. Under the requirements and guidelines of Japan NCAP (JNCAP), the Swift hatchback has also secured a 99% score.

The Japanese version, equipped with ADAS, scored 81% in collision safety performance, 99% in preventive safety performance, and 100% in accident emergency call system.

For reference, the fourth-generation Suzuki Swift is also highly anticipated in India and it is expected to arrive here very soon.

2024 Japan-Spec Suzuki Swift: Safety Results

As mentioned above, the Japanese version of the Suzuki Swift had undergone an extensive crash test and was tested within 50 to 60km/h. Post-evaluation of ADAS capabilities, the new Swift hatchback was also tested for frontal and front-side crashes between a speed of 55 and 64km/h. In addition, the Suzuki Swift also had a side-impact crash test. Some panels were damaged, but the pillars remain retained.

Besides that, the Suzuki Swift’s ADAS suite did an impressive job by meeting the Japan NCAP’s safety standards. That said, the video (uploaded by JNCAP) depicted the hatchback’s strong safety features that reduce the risk of collision or any mishap. But, we doubt if the Indian version will get ADAS as well.

Plus, it is uncertain, if the 4th-gen Suzuki Swift will undergo the Global NCAP crash test.

2024 Japan-Spec Suzuki Swift: Chassis and Powertrain

The fourth-generation Suzuki Swift continues to be based on the HEARTECT platform, which also underpinned the third-generation.

As for the powertrain, the international-spec 2024 Swift can be had in a standard petrol version and an optional mild-hybrid version. The petrol version is powered by the new Z-series 1.2-litre, three-cylinder engine, which is tuned to churn out 90bhp and 113Nm of peak torque.

For your reference, the third-generation Swift is powered by a K-series 1.2-litre, four-cylinder, petrol engine, which produces 88.50bhp and 113Nm of peak torque.

The Indian version might get the new Z-series petrol engine.

2024 Suzuki Swift: Availability in India

The India-bound version of the Suzuki Swift may not be identical to the international version. That said, the ADAS suite may not be offered either, albeit several mass-market vehicles have started offering ADAS in India.

We expect a competitive pricing of the Suzuki Swift in India, especially in a price-sensitive market like ours.
