BMW has finally launched extended their adventure tourer motorcycle portfolio by bringing the R 1300 GS to India. It replaces the R 1250 GS and demands a Rs 40,000 premium over the predecessor.

Except for the base variant, all the others are loaded with the touring package, which includes pannier mounts, chrome exhaust header pipes, adaptive headlight, knuckle-guard extenders and so on. There is also a Triple Black variant which can be equipped with the optional Adaptive Ride Height system.
The adventure tourer gets a 1300cc boxer mill which churns out 145hp at 7750rpm and 149Nm at 6500rpm. The bike gets tubeless spoke wheels, comfort and dynamic packages, an electronic windscreen, a bidirectional quick-shifter, a centre stand, Pro riding modes, etc., as standard across the range. The bike is capable of 0 to 100 kmph in just 3.4 seconds and can go up to 225 km/h.
The top-end variant, Option 719 Tramuntana, comes equipped with Active Cruise Control, and Front Collision Warning because of the radar assistance. This variant also has an attractive green and yellow colour scheme on its body. Further, this specific variant also gets features like a 6.5-inch coloured TFT screen, standard comfort package, central locking, keyless ride, heated gripe, smartphone charging space with integrated USB charging socket and a 12V onboard power socket, to name a few.

The BMW R 1300 GS comes into the country via the CBU (completely built unit), carrying a price tag of Rs 20.95 lakh (ex-showroom), which is slightly expensive than its predecessor, but lower than most of its direct 1300-cc competitors.
The adventure tourer locks horns with the likes of the Ducati Multistrada V4, Harley Davidson Pan America 1250, and the Triumph Tiger 1200 GT Pro.
