BMW Motorrad is prepping to launch the successor of the R 1250 GS anytime soon in India, called the R 1300 GS. The launch date hasn’t been announced by BMW India, but it is expected to arrive around this year’s monsoon season.
It is also worth mentioning that selected BMW Motorrad dealerships have started taking bookings of the upcoming R 1300 GS. The booking amount will range between Rs 50,000 and Rs 1 lakh, varying on the variant.
BMW R 1300 GS: Appearance
As per the images, the BMW R 1300 GS has received a revolutionary design compared to the R 1250 GS. The former has sleek body panels, which blend with the new-age design of BMW bikes. Other notable cosmetic highlights include a flatter fuel tank, a split-seat design, a more slender tail, and an X-shaped LED headlamp with DRLs.
As seen on other BMW bikes, the R 1300 GS will also have graphics on its body.
BMW R 1300 GS: Mechanicals
Besides that, there is also a new metal sheet, which surrounds the engine component, accompanied by a new tubular steel rear sub-frame (replaced cast aluminium unit).
The suspension setup is also tweaked, as it now features a new Telelever and Paralever at the front and rear, respectively. Both suspensions are EVO-sourced. BMW Motorrad states that the suspension is tuned to the stiff side.
In addition, this BMW bike also boasts electronically adjustable suspension, which allows the rider to adjust the spring preload and damping through an optional Dynamics Suspension (DSA). The DSA feature offers adaptive ride height control; which means it can automatically adjust the ride height.
As for the powertrain, the BMW R 1300 GS is powered by a 1300cc boxer engine that generates 144bhp at 7750rpm and 149Nm of peak torque at 6500rpm. It draws power via a standard six-speed gearbox.
BMW R 1300 GS: Features
Features offered on this bike include keyless ignition, a 6.5-inch colour TFT display, ride-off assistant, Full Integral ABS Pro, and four ride modes (Eco, Road, Rain and Enduro). The bike can also be loaded with optional packages: Pro and Riding Assistant. The former package unlocks three more ride modes- Dynamic, Dynamic Pro, and Enduro Pro, whereas the latter package offers active cruise control, adaptive cruise control, front collision warning, and lane change warning.
