Amidst its global financial woes, KTM is all set to launch its latest generation of adventure touring motorcycles in India. At the India Bike Week 2024, KTM and Bajaj were kind enough to showcase the latest lineup of 390 Adventure motorcycles. The 390 Adventure relies on the brutal 390 Duke’s LC4C engine and a beefed-up off-road centric chassis whereas the 390 Adventure X brings a few more bells and whistles to pamper adventure tourers. Both of these motorcycles are expected to put up solid competition to the ever-dominant Royal Enfield Himalayan 450.
But what if you don’t seek the might and capability of the 390 Adventure? Maybe the performance of that monstrous engine might be too much to tame? Or maybe you are new to off-road riding.
Whatever the reason, KTM has heard your woes and come up with a more accessible version of its 390 Adventure motorcycle. Accessible both in terms of performance and possibly the price. Meet the KTM 250 Adventure.
Revealed as the most entry-level offering in KTM’s off-road motorcycle segment, the 250 Adventure shares its chassis components with its bigger sibling and the engine from the 250 Duke. But is that all? Is it just a smaller and less capable version of the bigger 390 Adventure?
Here’s everything you need to know about the new KTM 250 Adventure.

What is the KTM 250 Adventure?
The KTM 250 Adventure is based on a simple formula – the chassis from the 390 Adventure and the engine from the 250 Duke.
Hence, this baby off-road motorcycle makes 31 hp of peak power and 25 Nm of peak torque. It remains to be seen whether KTM alters the tuning of the engine’s torque map to pamper the rider with off-road performance.
Now the chassis. The 250 Adventure lacks the aluminium sub-frame from the 390 versions but retains the two-piece steel trellis frame. A new suspension setup now allows up to 200 mm travel up front and 205 mm travel at the rear. The 19-inch front wheel gets a 320 mm front disc whereas the 17-inch rear wheel gets a 240 mm disc, with dual-channel ABS taking care of safety. In true off-roader fashion, riders can switch off the rear ABS but the presence of alloy rims may restrict severe off-roading.
Despite all the changes, the overall weight remains restricted to 177 kg; the fuel tank capacity now holds at 14 litres.
Is there more tech onboard?
In new KTM fashion, the 250 Adventure gets the same 5-inch TFT display as the 200 Duke, 250 Duke and 390 Duke. This display shows a lot of information other than the basic instrumentation in colours. The new electronics also allow for ride-by-wire technology, which eventually allows KTM to give this bike a bi-directional quick shifter. The motorcycle also gets a projector LED headlight unit, marking a big upgrade over the halogen unit from the previous model.
Is the KTM 250 Adventure pricey?
KTM is yet to reveal the price of the 2025 KTM 250 Adventure but we expect the motorcycle to be priced in the vicinity of INR 2.5 lakhs (ex-showroom).
