The hits keep coming from KTM!

First, they pumped our adrenaline with the raw, untamed power of the 890 Duke R along with other KTM big bikes. Now, the adventure surprise awaits.

The 890 Duke R is a bike that redefined aggression and agility. And now, they’ve dropped another bombshell. The KTM 890 Adventure is here and it is ready to tackle everything from tight switchbacks to open wilderness trails.

For riders who crave versatility without compromise, this middleweight adventure bike is a dream come true. It’s packing that beastly parallel-twin engine we fell in love with on the Duke, tuned to deliver the perfect mix of low-end torque and top-end power for everything: from tight technical trails to highway overtakes.

And don’t even get me started on the tech! With features like ride modes, cornering ABS, traction control and even optional cruise control, KTM has gone all-out to make sure this bike isn’t just capable – it’s unstoppable.

But what really gets my heart racing is how KTM’s rally DNA is baked into every inch of this machine. The lightweight chassis, adjustable suspension and rugged yet sleek design make it clear: this isn’t just an ADV bike, it’s a statement. Whether you’re carving mountain passes or a short Delhi-Uttarakhand ride, this machine can blast through gravel roads.

Or load up for a week-long trek! The 890 Adventure is ready to take on the world with you.

Adventure is calling and KTM just gave us the ultimate weapon to answer it. Are you ready to ride beyond the map? Let’s gear up and make some memories!

The 2025 KTM 890 Adventure R

The KTM 890 Adventure R was already available in international markets. KTM has upgraded the front look of the bike in the latest model. The 2025 model of the 890 Adventure R has borrowed its graphics and colours from the KTM 450 Rally version. The KTM 890 Adventure R comes with connectivity features as standard. It also features a five-inch TFT instrument cluster with turn-by-turn navigation. Riders can connect their smartphones to the motorcycle to check SMS notifications and call alerts.

The motorcycle is powered by an 889cc, 4-stroke, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine that produces 104.6 bhp at 8,000 RPM of maximum power and around 100 Nm of peak torque at 6,500 RPM. It is paired with a six-speed gearbox.

The R version gets a WP XPLOR upside-down fork at the front and an adjustable WP XPLOR PDS shock absorber at the rear. The front disc measures 320 mm while the rear is relatively smaller at 260 mm. The bike comes with switchable ABS.

The motorcycle comes with a 20L fuel tank capacity. It is a massive machine with 263 mm of ground clearance, a kerb weight of 215 kg and a seat height of 880 mm. The seat height could be an issue for most Indian riders, hence KTM should launch a lower seat height version.

Apart from this, the KTM 890 Adventure R is loaded with features like traction control, ride modes, off-road ABS, launch control, ABS, smartphone connectivity and the Quickshifter+ feature for a premium riding experience.

KTM 890 Adventure R price and competition

The ex-showroom price of the pre-facelift 2024 motorcycle is INR 15,80,000.

The KTM 890 Adventure R falls between the KTM 390 Adventure series and the KTM 1290 Super Adventure S. For those who think the 390 is not a pure adventure machine and the KTM 1290 is overpowered, this machine hits the sweet spot.

The 890 Adventure R directly competes with the BMW F 900 GS Adventure, which is powered by an 895cc engine producing 103.25 bhp and 93 Nm of torque. The BMW comes with a lower ex-showroom price of INR 14,75,000, undercutting the KTM 890 Adventure R's price of INR 15,80,000. This price difference may sway some buyers toward the BMW, especially given its globally recognised brand prestige. However, KTM has its edge with its rally-inspired DNA, advanced off-road capabilities and aggressive styling, appealing to riders who prioritise hardcore adventure performance over brand name alone.
