KTM 390 Adventure S Revealed In India: A New Touring Delight?

The new KTM 390 Adventure S was unveiled at the IBW last night. The motorcycle has received visual enhancements and a brand-new powerhouse borrowed from the new 390 Duke. There will be three 390 ADVs from the brand now; the level 390 Adventure X, 390 Adventure S and the top-of-the-line 390 Enduro R, For now, the brand has revealed the S and R variants and the entry-level X variant is yet to be revealed. 

The motorcycle looks sharp with its aggressive styling consisting of the typical KTM orange, white and black colour themes. We feel the brand has limited the use of orange colour on this iteration of the 390 Adventure to change the brand image and appeal to a group of people who do not appreciate the bright colours.

Design and features 

The 390 Adventure S gets vertically mounted Bi-LED projector headlamps, which along with DRLs and a tall wind visor, look somewhat similar to the big motorcycles like the KTM 1290 Super Adventure S. 

Other than all LED lighting, the motorcycle is also equipped with a 5-inch TFT for instrumentation (probably the same unit as the 390 Duke) with smartphone connectivity. It also gets cruise control to make highway riding a breeze. Other highlights include dual-channel ABS as standard and adjustable suspension along with a brand new rear minimal tail design.

Performance

KTM has upgraded the engine on the 390 Adventure by giving it the 399cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder petrol burner from the 390 Duke. This engine produces 45.3 hp of peak power and 39 Nm of peak torque. The 390 Adventure currently on sale in the country is powered by the 373cc engine from the second generation of the 390 Duke which produces 42.9 hp and 37 Nm of peak torque. 

The new 2025 KTM 390 Adventure is getting a jump in the power figures. This should enhance the on and off-road performance of this motorcycle significantly. Since this engine is coupled with a six-speed gearbox on the 390 Duke, we expect the brand to have the same setup on the Adventure too. However, there might be some changes to the gearing to suit the different nature of this motorcycle.

The KTM 390 Adventure S is equipped with 21-inch and 17-inch spoke wheels on the front and rear respectively. The motorcycle is wearing tubed tyres for now but it is reported that the brand is working to bring the option of tubeless spoke wheels, similar to the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450.

Expected launch date and pricing of 2025 KTM 390 Adventure

The motorcycle is expected to officially launch in early 2025 and that is when the brand will reveal prices for these new models. Currently, the 390 Adventure starts over INR 3.4 lakh (ex-showroom) and we now expect the new model to be priced slightly higher because of all the additional features and the inclusion of a better engine.
