The Indian automobile manufacturer Hero MotoCorp secured the first position in selling the two-wheelers in our domestic market. The competitors followed included Honda, TVS and Bajaj on the list of bestselling brands.
So, let’s dive deep into the performance of the aforementioned brands in India, as far as the sales of two-wheelers in India are concerned.
Hero MotoCorp
Last month in June 2024, the company dispatched 4.91 lakh units, recording a 16.24% increase from what it was in June 2023. In comparison, Hero sold 4.78 lakh units in May 2024, contributing a 2.50% month-on-month increase in sales.
That said, the Hero Vida V1 and Xtreme 125 played a pivotal role in contributing to the sales success.
Apart from that, the company is expected to introduce the updated version of the Destini 125 scooter in India. It is speculated that it will come with a revised headlamp, reworked rear lights, aesthetics modifications, and a new set of alloy wheels.
Honda
The Japanese automobile manufacturer has a good market share in both four- and two-wheeler markets. Having 4.83 lakh units sold, Honda became the second-best-selling two-wheeler brand in June 2024. It recorded an impressive 59% increase in year-on-year sales.
Additionally, its market share in the Indian two-wheeler market also increased from 29.15% in May ‘24 to 31.25% in June ‘24. Honda’s bestselling two-wheelers include Active 6G, Dio, Hornet 2.0, and Shine 100, to name a few.
TVS
The Chennai-based automobile manufacturer TVS secured the third position in June’s sales chart, having sold 2.56 lakh units. The year-on-year (YoY) growth touched 8%, while its market share stood at 16.56%, as of June 2024.
Besides that, the company recently introduced the limited-run Racing Edition of the TVS Apache RTR 160 in India, priced at Rs 1.28 lakh (ex-showroom).
Bajaj
The Chakan-based automobile company sold 1.77 lakh units and reported a 6.56% year-on-year (YoY) growth compared to 1.66 lakh sold units in June 2023. Furthermore, the overall sales are projected to grow in the coming month, as the company recently introduced the world’s first CNG bike in India, the Bajaj Freedom 125, which has a starting price of Rs 95,000 (ex-showroom).
Suzuki
Suzuki also reported a year-on-year growth, as the company sold 71,086 in June 2024, increased from 63,059 units sold in June 2023. In percentage, the YoY growth stands at 12.73%. Some notable offerings include Gixxer, Access 125, and V-Strom SX, to name a few.
