The world’s first CNG bike has finally made its India debut, dubbed the Bajaj Freedom 125. This Made-in-India CNG-powered bike will initially go on sale in Maharashtra and Gujarat, plus the company also plans to export the Freedom 125 bike to selected international markets, including Bangladesh, Colombia, Egypt, Tanzania, Peru, and Indonesia.
Offerings include the longest seat in the market at 785mm, a good ground clearance of 170mm, and the segment-first linked mono-shock.
In terms of specifications, the Freedom 125 CNG bike houses a 2kg CNG tank and a 2-litre fuel tank, which can return a combined range of 330km.
This 125cc engine is mated to a five-speed manual transmission. With this setup, the engine produces 9.3bhp and 9.7Nm of peak torque. In addition to that, the bike can manually switch (handlebar-mounted button) from petrol to CNG mode.
The petrol-only mode has a mileage of 65kmpl, while the CNG-only mode returns 102km/kg. These are claimed figures by Bajaj.
Bajaj Motors offers this bike in three variants: NG04 Drum, NG04 Drum LED, and NG04 Disc LED. So, let’s delve into the variant-wise offerings of the Bajaj Freedom 125.
Please note that the prices mentioned here are introductory ex-showroom figures, as of July 2024.
Bajaj Freedom 125: Drum Variant
The Bajaj Freedom 125’s base-spec Drum variant carries an ex-showroom price of Rs 95,000.
Onboard features include a full LCD instrument cluster and a halogen headlight. This variant misses out on Bluetooth connectivity, unlike the top-spec variant.
It has a 130mm and 110mm drum brake at the front and rear. It is supported by a combined braking system (CBS).
This version has a sheet metal bash plate instead of a tank cover flap. Only two colour options are there: Ebony Black-Red and Pewter Grey-Yellow.
Bajaj Freedom 125: Drum LED Variant
This mid-spec variant has a tank cover flap, LED daytime running lights (DRLs), and an LED headlamp. The Drum LED variant has an ex-showroom price of Rs 1.05 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Freedom 125’s Drum LED version has a 130mm rear drum brake, unlike the base variant’s 110mm rear drum brake. A strong plastic steel is used for the bash plate. The colour options include Racing Red, Cyber White, Caribbean Blue, Pewter Grey-Black, and Ebony Black-Grey.
Bajaj Freedom 125: Disc LED Variant
This is the top-spec variant of the Bajaj Freedom 125 CNG bike, also called the NG04 Disc LED. The ex-showroom price of the top-most variant is Rs 1.10 lakh.
It is equipped with LED headlamps with LED DRLs, an illuminated LCD instrument cluster, and Bluetooth connectivity. Because of Bluetooth, the instrument cluster will show caller ID, missed call notifications, and the phone’s battery level. But it lacks the turn-by-turn navigation.
Further, it has a USB charging port, a flap for the tank cover, and a sturdy plastic-steel bash plate. As the variant’s name suggests, the top-spec variant has a front disc brake of 240mm, coupled with a rear drum brake. It also has a 17-inch and a 16-inch alloy wheel at the front and rear, respectively.
There are five colour options like the mid variant: Racing Red, Cyber White, Caribbean Blue, Pewter Grey-Black, and Ebony Black-Grey.
