After launching the all-electric version of the new BMW 5 Series (8th-Gen), the i5; BMW India has now introduced another performance vehicle, the BMW M4 Competition M xDrive. This full-blown 2024 ‘BMW M’ car is priced at Rs 1.53 crore and is the facelifted version of the outgoing BMW M4.
This vehicle will be brought to India via the CBU route. For your reference, all 'BMW M' performance (not to be confused with BMW M Sport) cars are brought to India via the CBU route.
2024 BMW M4 Competition M xDrive: Exterior
The 2024 facelifted version of the BMW M4 underwent extensive visual changes.
Its front end has received newly designed Adaptive LED headlamps, paired with numeric ‘7’-like shaped LED DRLs that also work as indicators. Inside the headlamps, there are also blue-coloured inserts for anti-dazzle function (BMW Selective Beam). Lastly, they also have an active cornering function.
The front radiator grille with horizontal slats is finished in high gloss black, complemented by an ‘M’ badge.
Coming to the side profile, the new M4 looks the same as the pre-facelifted iteration. That said, the overall silhouette is unchanged, except for a few additions. However, on the top of the car, you will find a carbon fibre roof, which reduces the car’s weight, as a result, it reduces the centre of gravity for better stability.
The additions comprise black inserts on several panels of this German performance car. You can, however, notice the brake callipers, finished in a high gloss blue colour. Red-painted callipers are also available as an option. Further, this vehicle stands on lightweight ‘M’ forged alloy wheels with optional 19- and 20-inch rims.
At the rear, the new BMW M4 facelift has the M4 CSL-inspired laser-style tail lights, complemented by a spoiler and performance-oriented exhaust.
Lastly, the customers can also choose the BMW M Carbon Exterior Package, which comprises wide-open front air intakes, a rear diffuser, exclusive mirror caps, and a sportier CFP rear spoiler.
2024 BMW M4 Competition M xDrive: Interior
The 2024 M4’s interior will welcome you with a three-spoke ‘M’ leather steering wheel with a flattened bottom section, coupled with a ‘12 o’clock’ marker in carbon fibre. In fact, customers can now also have the option to choose an M Alcantara steering wheel for a sportier driving experience.
You will, however, find several carbon fibre inserts inside the 2024 BMW M4. Along with that, this vehicle has M sports seats as standard with integrated headrests and embossed illuminated model logos. The front seats are electrically adjustable and have an Active Seat Ventilation (only heating) feature as standard.
Moreover, the power windows’ buttons, multi-function buttons on the steering wheel, and door locks have exclusive galvanic embellishments.
2024 BMW M4 Competition M xDrive: Features
As seen in new-age BMWs, the facelifted second-generation BMW M4 (G82) also has a dual-screen setup, consisting of an instrument cluster and an infotainment unit. The digital drive display measures 12.3 inches, while the touchscreen infotainment unit measures 14.9 inches. These screens are running on BMW’s new 8.5 operating system.
Other comfort and convenience features include voice controls, iDrive controller, navigation with 3D maps, wireless charging, comfort access with a digital key, 16-speaker Harman Kardon surround sound system (464 W), and BMW Heads-Up Display with ‘M’ views. The ‘M’ specific views include engine revs, shift light, gear indicator, speed, etc.
The new iteration also supports BMW Connected Package Professional. This standard package comprises teleservices, intelligent e-call, intelligent personal assistant, personal e-sim, and remote software upgrades.
Further, this two-door four-seater sports coupe has ambient lighting, auto-dimming mirrors, a three-zone HVAC, paddle shifters, ‘M’ seatbelts, and front seats with lumbar and back support, to name a few.
On the safety front, the 2024 M4 Competition has six airbags, ABS with brake assist, cornering brake control (CBC), dynamic stability control (DSC) with M Dynamic mode (MDM), electronic parking brake with auto hold, and side impact protection. It also has ISOFIX child-seat anchorages, active protection with an attentive assistant, a mobility kit, and a run-flat indicator.
2024 BMW M4 Competition M xDrive: Powertrain
This full-blown ‘M’ car has an all-wheel drive system (xDrive), which powers all the wheels via a TwinPower Turbo S58 six-cylinder in-line petrol engine. It has a displacement capacity of 2993cc.
This in-house developed turbocharged petrol unit is tuned to produce 530bhp of peak power at 6250rpm and 650Nm of peak torque between 2750-5370rpm. Its power has been increased by 20bhp over the pre-facelift version.
The BMW M4 draws out power via an eight-speed M Steptronic gearbox. With this setup, this M4 can do 0-100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds.
Additionally, this German car rides on Adaptive ‘M’ suspension, which changes its configuration via these drive modes- Comfort, Sport, and Sport+.
