Xiaomi Launches YU7 Electric SUV
Xiaomi has officially entered the electric SUV market with the launch of the Xiaomi YU7 on May 22, 2025. Set to go on sale in July, the YU7 is positioned to rival premium EVs like the Tesla Model X and BMW iX. This first-ever SUV from Xiaomi EV combines sophisticated design, cutting-edge technology, and impressive range capabilities, especially the entry-level model that offers a segment-leading 835 km (CLTC) range.
Available in three variants—Standard, Pro, and Max—the YU7 caters to different performance needs. All variants use Xiaomi’s high-density battery systems: the Standard and Pro come with a 96.3kWh battery, offering 835 km and 760 km range, respectively, while the Max variant gets a slightly larger 101.7kWh unit with a 770 km range. The Max also delivers serious power, with 690PS, hitting 0-100 km/h in just 3.23 seconds, supported by an 800V HyperEngine V6s Plus platform that enables ultra-fast 12-minute charging (10%-80%).
Design, Interior and Technology Highlights
In terms of dimensions, the YU7 measures 4,999 mm in length and has a wheelbase of 3,000 mm, contributing to a strong road presence. Its design is futuristic and highly aerodynamic, achieving a drag coefficient of 0.245, thanks to advanced airflow management through 10 air channels, 19 vents, and a 100-louver active grille. Unique lighting elements include ultra-red taillights and new waterdrop-shaped headlamps. Electric-flush door handles auto-extend via the infotainment system for added flair.

The interior blends comfort with innovation in what Xiaomi calls the “Dual-Zone Surround Luxury Cabin.” A 1.1-meter-wide triple Mini LED HyperVision display offers rich media, navigation, and car data, while the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Thor chips ensure seamless smart connectivity. Wi-Fi 7 and dual 5G support, combined with Xiaomi’s Human x Car x Home ecosystem, tie the YU7 into a larger smart lifestyle.
The cabin is spacious with 1970 litres of total cargo space, including a 141L front trunk and expandable rear storage. Other highlights include dual zero-gravity front seats with 10-point massage, 135° reclining rear seats, and intelligent storage compartments.
Performance, Safety, and ADAS
Performance is matched by robust safety. A hybrid steel-aluminum armor cage structure with 2200 MPa steel enhances impact protection, while the YU7 also boasts over 50 crash-test certifications. Its advanced driver-assistance system is powered by NVIDIA and includes LiDAR, 4D radar, and 11 cameras for precise obstacle recognition and lane navigation.
Overall, the Xiaomi YU7 marks a bold entry into the premium EV segment, blending luxury, power, and intelligent design.
