Samsung One UI 7
Samsung has halted the release of its One UI 7 update for the Galaxy S24 lineup temporarily, due to a major bug. The update, which started rolling out last week in South Korea, was set to roll out in other markets as well, such as the US. But due to some major issues reported by some users in South Korea, Samsung halted the release.
The issue was originally brought to the light by popular Samsung tipster UniverseIce on X (Twitter). From his tweet, users who had installed the official version of One UI 7 on their Galaxy S24 devices found themselves struggling to unlock their phones in some situations. The bug was bad enough that Samsung quickly looked into the matter and recalled the firmware to avoid spreading it to other markets.

Even though Samsung has not officially announced a halt, the matter seems to have been seriously addressed. Tipster Tarun Vats mentioned that Samsung had also pulled the update's firmware from its over-the-air (OTA) servers, further corroborating the belief that the rollout has actually been paused. It appears the problem could be limited to Galaxy S24 phones that are based on the Exynos 2400 processor, which is typical of those sold in South Korea and a few other countries.
The upgrade in question was one of the regular attempts of Samsung to bring the latest version of its Android-based user interface, One UI 7, to its flagships. One UI 7 is based on Android 14 and is supposed to bring multiple new features as well as some performance enhancements. Nevertheless, the unlocking problem raised questions about the stability of the software, at least for specific hardware configurations.
For those users who have already applied the update, no cause for panic arises. Samsung, as per Android Authority, is currently in the process of crafting a patch for the issue and should be coming out with a fix in the near future. In the meantime, those impacted users should avoid unnecessarily restarting their devices and look for official word from Samsung on updates.
