Volkswagen has launched the sportier version of its top-selling SUV, Tiguan, in India. Tagged at ₹48.99 lakh (ex-showroom), the new car is branded the Tiguan R-Line and will be available in one, loaded variant. Bookings for the vehicle had already started last month, and the car has been launched in India as a completely built-up (CBU) unit.

Performance and Engine

The Tiguan R-Line receives a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol unit paired with a DSG automatic transmission. It churns out 201 bhp and 320 Nm of peak torque. The vehicle also receives Volkswagen's 4Motion all-wheel-drive technology, offering better control and stability across different situations.

Interior and Features

Inside, the Tiguan R-Line gets a black interior with red dashboard trim, door panel trim, and center console trim for a sporty and luxurious cabin look. The SUV also features a 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment display and a 10.3-inch all-digital instrument display. Some other features include a sunroof, wireless phone charging, head-up display, and front heated and ventilated seats, all for the comfort and convenience of the occupants.

Safety and Driver Assist

Safety also comes first in the Tiguan R-Line. The vehicle boasts six airbags, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and an electronic parking brake. It is also equipped with advanced driver assist systems (ADAS) such as lane keep assist, forward collision mitigation, and adaptive cruise control, thereby making the entire driving experience safe and more controllable.

Design and Exterior

Design-wise, the R-Line variant is a take on the standard Tiguan's shape but with some sporty elements thrown in. These include more sharp-edged bumpers, a larger front grille, thin headlamps with integrated daytime running lights (DRLs), and massive front splitters. The car also has 19-inch alloy wheels and connected LED taillamps at the rear, along with some unique R-Line badging to differentiate it further.

Colour Options

Volkswagen is introducing the new Tiguan R-Line in six body colours, i.e., Persimmon Red Metallic, Cipressino Green Metallic, Nightshade Blue Metallic, Grenadilla Black Metallic, Oryx White with pearl effect, and Oyster Silver Metallic. The changes enhance the Tiguan R-Line as a more fashionably and performance-oriented option in Volkswagen's premium SUV lineup in India.
