Samsung’s latest wearables are finally here. At its big Galaxy Unpacked event on July 9, the company introduced the Galaxy Watch 8 series, which includes two models — the Galaxy Watch 8 and the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic. These smartwatches bring a fresh mix of refined design, AI-powered health features, and smarter software. For the first time, Samsung’s wearables now include Google’s Gemini assistant, adding a new layer of intelligence to your wrist. Both watches run on Wear OS 6 with Samsung’s One UI 8 Watch.

What’s New in the Galaxy Watch 8?

The Galaxy Watch 8 is Samsung’s slimmest smartwatch yet at just 8.6mm thick. It’s available in two sizes — 44mm and 40mm. The 44mm version has a larger 1.47-inch Super AMOLED display with 480x480 resolution, while the 40mm gets a 1.34-inch display at 438x438 resolution. Both are protected with Sapphire Crystal and support Always-On Display, with brightness peaking at 3,000 nits — great for outdoor visibility.

Inside, Samsung has packed its new Exynos W1000 processor, built on a 3nm process, paired with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. The 44mm version includes a 435mAh battery, while the 40mm gets a 325mAh unit, and both support fast wireless charging.

In terms of connectivity, you’ll find Bluetooth 5.3, LTE, Wi-Fi, NFC, and dual-frequency GPS for better tracking. The watch is built to last too — with 5ATM + IP68 water resistance and MIL-STD-810H military-grade durability.

• High Stress Alerts & Mindfulness Tools: Notifies you during high stress and offers guided breathing exercises.

All this is backed by AI-powered insights and Gemini integration, making the Watch 8 a much more proactive health companion.

Galaxy Watch 8 Classic: Rotating Bezel Returns

The Galaxy Watch 8 Classic brings back the beloved rotating bezel, and adds a new quick access button for convenience. It comes in one size — 46mm — and two finishes: Black and White. The 1.34-inch Super AMOLED display is protected by Sapphire Crystal, with the same resolution as the 40mm Watch 8 model.

Under the hood, the Classic runs on the same Exynos W1000 processor, but with 2GB RAM and a much larger 64GB of storage. The battery size is slightly bigger too, at 445mAh, and fast wireless charging is included.

It shares the same sensor suite as the Watch 8 but adds a 3D Hall Sensor for extra precision in movement tracking. Of course, it also supports One UI 8 Watch, Wear OS 6, and Gemini AI.
