Dear world, congratulations. Samsung has graced you with the Galaxy S25 series. Another year of another incremental upgrade masquerading as a revolutionary leap forward. Honestly, I think Samsung is running out of adjectives to describe how ‘groundbreaking’ each new model is. They have nothing new to break except the savings of Samsung fans. Don’t get me wrong, the Samsung Galaxy S25 may sound like a perfectly fine smartphone but for the astronomical price tag, you are essentially paying a premium for the privilege of saying you own the latest Samsung S-series gadget.

Meanwhile, other smartphone brands are doing crazy and interesting things day by day. Forget the Apple iPhone 16 series, Android smartphones are battling for the tag of “value for money”. Let’s not forget that when Google launched the Pixel 9, people criticised it for the higher price tag but at least it had the tag of “camera smartphone”. Then when iQOO launched the IQOO 12 with the Snapdragon 8 Elite, people appreciated the brand for making an almost value-for-money smartphone. But then OnePlus came into the picture with the OnePlus 13, featuring the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor and Hasselblad cameras, and grabbed all the attention of consumers. The brand also added a lifetime screen replacement for the green line issue to target long-term OnePlus users.

OnePlus has made the OnePlus 13 a value-for-money device. It is powered by the latest Snapdragon chip and comes with strong on-paper specifications. In fact, if we ignore some departments, the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra at INR 70,000 sounds like a much better deal than the Samsung Galaxy S25. We also have the iPhone 16 for those who simply must have the Apple ecosystem, complete with its exorbitant price and user-friendly interface.

The Vivo X200 is also available for INR 65,999, and it has gained a lot of popularity because of its cameras.

OnePlus 13 vs Samsung Galaxy S25

Ultimately, the Indian smartphone market is a battlefield, and smartphone brands are trying to capture buyers by launching value-for-money smartphones. In my opinion, the OnePlus 13 is more glamorous than the Samsung S25 series.

Price and performance

The OnePlus 13 and Samsung Galaxy S25 are both powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. The Snapdragon 8 Elite in the Galaxy S25 is slightly overclocked (approximately 0.15GHz), and the basic version of both smartphones comes with 12GB RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. Another edge of the Samsung Galaxy S25 is that it comes with seven years of Android updates while the OnePlus 13 comes with four years of Android updates.

However, the OnePlus 13 comes with a 6000mAh battery compared to the 4000mAh battery of the Samsung Galaxy S25. Also, the OnePlus offers 100W wired, 50W wireless, 10W reverse wireless and 5W reverse wired charging support. These numbers are significantly higher than the 25W wired, 15W wireless and 4.5W reverse wireless charging support of the Galaxy S25.

The battle in this zone is neck and neck, but when the price difference of more than INR 12,000 is factored in, the OnePlus 13 wins the final race. However, I want to leave the final verdict to the readers.

Display and design

The OnePlus features a better and larger screen size. Both have 120Hz AMOLED displays but the OnePlus comes with a 1440p resolution screen compared to the 1080p display of the Samsung Galaxy S25. In fact, the PPI is also marginally higher in the OnePlus 13 (510ppi compared to the 416ppi of the S25).

The OnePlus 13 has a 6.82-inch LTPO 1440p display, slightly larger than the Galaxy S25's 6.2-inch 1080p display. The size can be a personal choice for users, but more resolution and higher PPI help produce sharp visuals. Both smartphones' bodies are made of aluminium but Samsung claims that its smartphone comes with an Armor Aluminium 2 frame.

OnePlus has mentioned both IP68 and IP69 as their protection ratings, but Samsung has only mentioned IP68.

Camera comparison

The Samsung Galaxy S25 has a triple rear camera setup: a 50-megapixel main sensor, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide sensor and a 12-megapixel telephoto camera. On the other hand, OnePlus has installed the strongest camera sensor. The OnePlus 13 has a 50-megapixel main sensor, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide sensor and a 50-megapixel telephoto sensor.

The OnePlus 13 has a 32-megapixel front camera, while the Samsung S25 has a 12-megapixel front-facing camera.

Both smartphones can shoot 8K videos from the rear and 4K from front-facing sensors.

Conclusion

The Samsung S25 is a compact flagship from Samsung while the OnePlus 13 is the ultimate flagship from OnePlus. Both smartphones have the same chipset, tonnes of AI features, and skin-based Android 15. The OnePlus 13 has better on-paper display quality, a superior camera setup, a larger battery, and better charging options. The cherry on the cake is the price of the OnePlus—you only need to pay INR 69,999 to bag a OnePlus 13 (a better device), compared to a whopping INR 80,999 for the Samsung Galaxy S25, which falls below the OnePlus 13 in terms of specifications.
