iOS 26 Image
Apple’s big iOS 26 reveal at WWDC 2025 had the usual fanfare — shiny features, dramatic music, and lots of buzzwords — but the real drama unfolded outside the keynote. Not to be left out of the fun, Google, Samsung, and even Microsoft rolled up their sleeves and fired off their own hilarious takes, turning Apple’s moment into something of a tech roast.
Let’s start with Google, which decided to channel its inner stand-up comic with a cheeky new ad. Picture this: the Pixel 9 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro are having a chat (yes, the phones talk), and the iPhone is very excited about iOS 26. “Live translation in Messages!” it exclaims. “Hold Assist! Call Screening!” Pixel, cool as ever, responds with a casual: “Oh… cute. I had that four, five… maybe seven years ago.” It's like someone proudly announcing they discovered email in 2025.
The ad is a classic case of “been there, done that” — Google pointing out that Pixel phones have been live-translating, holding your place in a call queue, and screening your sketchy spam calls since before iPhones got Face ID working with masks. And the Pixel’s final jab? A low-key “What’s next, iPhone? Wireless charging?” Oof.
Samsung, not one to sit on the sidelines, also jumped in. The Korean giant shared a snarky post calling out Apple’s glossy new “Liquid Glass” design and real-time translation feature — both of which have been part of Galaxy AI and One UI for a while now. Basically, Samsung said, “We’ve had that. Try again.”
But the surprise guest in this roast? Microsoft. The software veteran served up an image of its ancient (but oddly nostalgic) Windows Vista interface, cheekily comparing it to Apple’s new macOS Tahoe 26 redesign. Translation: “Hey Apple, welcome to 2007.”
The broader takeaway? While Apple fans were busy applauding the new features, Android’s long-time players were busy reminding everyone they’ve been quietly doing this stuff for years. And doing it well.
At the end of the day, competition like this makes the tech world more fun — and a lot more entertaining. Even if your phone doesn’t talk back, it’s nice to know it could throw shade if it wanted to.
