Garmin India introduced a new two-year warranty policy for some smartwatch models released after January 2024. The move, with the goal of increasing customer satisfaction and encouraging purchases from legitimate channels, covers models like the Forerunner 165 Series, Fenix 8 Series, Enduro 3, Instinct 3 Series, and all eligible future devices.

Here's what the new policy means for users

The extended warranty only covers products officially released and bought within India. Units purchased abroad or through unauthorized dealers will still have a one-year limited warranty. Garmin further advised that such units might be subject to import tax and GST at the time of warranty claims, as per government regulations.

The firm admitted a worsening situation whereby refurbished, discontinued, or unutilized devices are being sold to consumers without adequate disclosure that they are not within warranty services. To mitigate this, Garmin launched a special service promotion from June 1 to June 30, 2025. Eligible customers, with proper tax invoices for such mis-sold products, can take advantage of a special exchange offer: 50% discount on the Garmin Venu Sq 2 or 25% discount on other Garmin watches, while stocks last.

To avail of the exchange program, customers need to send an email to their issue at [email protected]. After verification, Garmin's support team will take users through the subsequent process. The exchange will be done within 15 days, subject to the device in question being unopened and as per the criteria mentioned in the policy.

The company recommends customers to buy only from the official Garmin India website to avoid problems with non-serviceable or discontinued products. The company pointed out that its new warranty and service program is aimed at fostering trust and enhancing post-purchase support for Indian consumers.

While the estimated turnaround time may vary based on location and availability of replacement units, Garmin reserves the right to revise its policies as needed. This move highlights the brand’s commitment to ensuring a more transparent and customer-friendly experience in the Indian market.
