Every parent loves their child to infinity. Even if the child has significant flaws that discourage the world from accepting him/her, the parents go beyond the conventions to help their child fly high and be happy. Samsung and Exynos have a similar relationship – one where Samsung never abandons the ailing Exynos.

Despite several technological setbacks, Samsung’s mobile division continues to fund development in the hope of seeing its in-house Exynos chips shine and outclass the competition. 2025’s Galaxy S25 series was supposed to take the baton from the Galaxy S24’s Exynos 2400 and exhibit the prowess of the new 3nm Exynos 2500 chip. Due to inadequate chip yields though, the Exynos 2500 could not make the cut and had to make way for Qualcomm’s 3nm Snapdragon 8 Elite.

Samsung, as always, isn’t abandoning Exynos. Rumours suggest that next-gen foldables in the Galaxy Z series will gain the Exynos 2500 chip and based on future developments, next year’s Galaxy S26 will champion the cause of Exynos chips.

Exynos chips to make ‘ghar wapasi’ in Galaxy S26

Based on a report from The Bell, a Korean website, Samsung is preparing the next-gen Exynos chips for next year’s phones. The Exynos 2600 is in the pre-production phase and the initial yields are over 30 per cent, which paints a positive picture for Samsung’s Exynos division. If things proceed at a positive pace, Samsung could begin mass production of the Exynos 2600 chip and ready the yield for the next generation Galaxy S26 series.

The 'Exynosificiation' won't stop there though. If 2025's Galaxy Flip 7 and Galaxy Fold 7 with the Exynos 2500 showcase a positive sales growth, Samsung could reserve future Exynos chips for its low-yield Galaxy Z foldable.

Why is the Exynos 2600 such a big deal?

The current crop of Android-based flagship smartphones are utilising the move to the 3nm chip platforms from Qualcomm and MediaTek. The move to the 3nm node from the previous 4nm chips introduced a substantial improvement in performance, power efficiency and AI processing.

Samsung, however, is moving over to the 2nm node with its next-generation chip. The Exynos 2600 is rumoured to be manufactured using Samsung’s SF2 2nm process – a platform that could raise the performance by 12 per cent and power efficiency by 25 per cent while observing a 3 per cent reduction in size.

Hence, you can expect the Galaxy S26 to be a mobile powerhouse for future AI performance requirements and the next generation of mobile gaming.
