Is The Samsung Galaxy S24 Worth Buying In 2025?

Latest tech at peak pricing or last year’s tech at a much lower pricing? If you are a part of Samsung’s fan camp, you might find yourself in this dilemma. The Galaxy S25 series is here and, unsurprisingly, it is as good as a conventional Android phone can get in 2025. Its got cutting-edge hardware, the newest innovations in phone-based generative AI and nicer cameras. 

But does all of it make the Galaxy S24 irrelevant? The phone was brought to the market almost a year ago and Samsung has only improved it over the year. It’s got the newest version of Android, refined new AI features and the promise of six more years of Android updates! Surely, all that should be enough to keep it relevant as a premium mid-range phone in 2025, right?

Samsung Galaxy S24 in 2025: What’s in it for you?

Over the years, Samsung has adopted the same strategy as Apple – sell last year’s phone at a slightly lower price while keeping the newest one on the pedestal. With the Galaxy S25 now assuming duties of representing Samsung’s best interests in the premium smartphone market, the Galaxy S24 can now be positioned to tackle more affordable flagships of its rivals. 

Hence, if you have been eyeing the iPhone 15 or the OnePlus 12, the Galaxy S24 now becomes a notable alternative. But is it better than any of the above-mentioned names, especially given that the Galaxy S24 relies on Samsung’s controversial Exynos chipset?

Moreover, with the Galaxy S24 FE sitting in the mid-INR 50,000 price bracket, won’t it make sense to save money with the FE variant and save up until the next big e-commerce sale?

5 reasons to buy the Galaxy S24

- If you are someone who cares about the latest design trends on smartphones, you won’t be missing out much with the Galaxy S24. Samsung is quite conservative when it comes to evolving its designs and the Galaxy S25 merely makes changes. Of course, you get new colourways but the Galaxy S24 has got some pretty shades too. It is built nicely and looks like a million bucks. 

- Although 3nm chips are the hot topic of the town these days, the Galaxy S24’s 4nm Exynos 2400 is plenty capable of anything Android has to throw at it. Be it the latest console-derived games or advanced levels of video editing, Samsung’s Exynos 2400 has plenty of performance overhead to get work done. In theory, it is as capable as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip!

- The Galaxy S24 was Samsung’s first phone to be promised seven iterations of Android updates. With the Android 15 update already in, the Galaxy S24 is still fit to get six more versions of Android upgrades. That’s a great deal for those who like to keep their phones for the longest time possible. 

- The camera system on the Galaxy S24 is the most versatile phone camera you can pocket. Not only do you get a capable 50-megapixel main shooter but you also have the luxury to optically zoom up to three times and also rely on a quality ultrawide shooter. 

- The Galaxy S24 has one of the nicest phone displays you can find on the market today. Although it measures 6.1 inches, the display uses Samsung’s Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel that can vary the refresh rate between 1Hz and 120Hz.

Is there any reason to avoid the Galaxy S24?

Yes, there are some.

The first one is the iQOO 13, which for a bit more price offers the newest Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. This makes the Galaxy S24 seem underpowered for similar money. 

Then there’s the age – Samsung’s old phones don’t tend to age well, especially the ones on Exynos chips. Hence, unless Samsung pulls off a miracle, the Samsung Galaxy S24 might not be the most agile and athletic premium phone to buy in 2025. 

The iPhone 16 is also one of the other reasons to avoid the Galaxy S24. The iPhone 16 utilises a superior 3nm chip, better camera system and a more secure ecosystem – all at a comparable price, especially when you wait for the e-commerce sale period.
