During the upcoming Flipkart Monumental Sale starting January 13, 2025, the iPhone 16 will be available at an effective price of just INR 63,999. The iPhone 16 is all about Apple Intelligence, camera control, the new ultra-wide sensor, a bigger battery and a newer design. At that price, the deal is nothing short of a jackpot. But it brings us to a vital question:

Should you really upgrade?

Flipkart has announced the first big sale of 2025 for its users. The sale, which was earlier named as the ‘Republic Day’ sale, has been renamed to the ‘Monumental Sale’ and will start from January 13. 

During the Flipkart Monumental Sale, the iPhone 16 will be available at a reduced price of INR 63,999. Although Flipkart has not revealed the exact breakdown of this deal, based on Flipkart’s previous questionable practices, we speculate it to be a mix of bank offers, exchange bonuses and no-cost EMI options. 

The exact breakdown of the iPhone 16 deal should be revealed soon and we will include that here as well. If you’ve been eyeing an upgrade, this is an excellent opportunity to own Apple’s latest smartphone at its lowest price.

Should iPhone 15 users upgrade?

If you recently purchased an iPhone 15, you’re likely wondering if an upgrade is worth it. Let’s compare the two models to help you decide.

The iPhone 16’s A18 chip is faster and more efficient, but the A16 Bionic in the iPhone 15 still handles most tasks effortlessly. Unless you’re a power user, the performance difference might be negligible in daily use.

While the iPhone 16 features a better 48-megapixel camera with improved zoom capabilities, the iPhone 15’s camera is still excellent for casual photography. The iPhone 16 also boasts slightly better battery life, thanks to its larger battery and efficient processor. However, if you’re already satisfied with your iPhone 15’s endurance, this may not be a compelling reason. The vertically stacked lenses on the iPhone 16 offer a fresh look, but this is purely a matter of personal preference. 

If those Apple Intelligence features and camera control do not excite you much, then the iPhone 15 is more than enough for your use.

Who should really upgrade?

iPhone 12 and earlier models

If you’re using an iPhone 12 or an older model, the iPhone 16 would feel like a big upgrade and would offer a substantial leap in performance, battery life and features. The A18 chip, enhanced cameras and longer battery life will make you feel the iPhone 16 is a worthy upgrade over the iPhone 12.

iPhone 13 or 14 users

For iPhone 13 users, the iPhone 16’s improved camera, better battery life and faster performance could justify the upgrade, particularly if you’re a power user or photography enthusiast. But, if you can wait for the iPhone 17, we recommend you do it.

The iPhone 13 and 14 are almost the same devices. So iPhone 14 users, we recommend you also to wait for iPhone 17.

Should Android users upgrade?

The iPhone 16 is a good device that brings meaningful upgrades to Apple’s lineup including the AI a.k.a Apple Intelligence powers to an iPhone. However, not everyone needs to make the jump. If you’re using an iPhone 15 or any recent model, upgrading might not be necessary unless specific features catch your eye. 

But if you are an Android user and want to join Team iPhone, the iPhone 16 could be a great start for you since it does almost everything in the most balanced way. Just mind the dated 60 Hz refresh rate display, which could feel a tad slower than your usual 120 Hz display Android phones.
