Whether you call it the iPhone SE 4 or the iPhone 16E, be assured that Apple is going to sell them truckloads. Expected to undercut the recently launched iPhone 16, this baby iPhone will provide an easy access point into Apple’s iOS universe and, most importantly, Apple Intelligence. Rumours hint at a launch window of March-April 2025 and now, we know how it might look!
Thanks to a tipster, we have a fair idea of how the modern iteration of the iPhone SE will look like in 2025. Rumours have suggested for a long while that Apple will ditch the old-school iPhone 8 aesthetics and settle for the comparatively modern iPhone 14 design scheme. That means the iPhone SE will finally ditch the TouchID fingerprint scanner in favour of the FaceID biometric recognition.
Also, no more thick bezels! Yay! But don’t mistake it to be an iPhone 16-beating package from Apple yet.
iPhone SE 4 dummy unit leaks!
Tipster Majin Bu shared a couple of images as well as a video showcasing a dummy unit of what he claims to be the iPhone SE 4. Similar to how the internet has imagined the handset, the dummy iPhone SE 4 showcases a boxy design with a flat display and a single rear camera lens. While the phone resembles the older iPhone SE models of the yesteryears from the rear, the front is where it has all changed.

An edge-to-edge display featuring a 6.1-inch OLED panel seems to be the biggest upgrade on the iPhone SE generation in years. Sadly, the trendy Dynamic Island is absent from the package and Apple seems to be sticking to the notch implementation for the time being. Hence, the display panel could be borrowed directly from the iPhone 14, which was already a good one to begin with.
Look around and you will notice the USB-C charging port, a first for the SE lineup. USB-C ports are now mandatory in the EU and some other countries, thereby making this baby iPhone widely compatible with USB-C charging adapters.
This iPhone SE will also ditch the Slider on the side in favour of the Action Button – a feature borrowed from the iPhone 16 series. The Action Button offers the ability to assign shortcuts to certain on-device functions and apps, thereby making life a tad easier on the move.
Additionally, the black and white colourways on these dummy units give us a good idea of how this basic iPhone will appear. We wonder if Apple will do a (Product) Red version of the iPhone SE 4.

As for the specifications, the iPhone SE 4 is expected to feature the latest A18 chipset coupled with 8GB RAM, a 48-megapixel image sensor for the rear camera and a larger capacity battery.
What is the iPhone SE 4 going to cost?
Whenever the iPhone SE 4 (or the iPhone 16E) arrives, it is likely to replace the ageing iPhone 14 in Apple’s current-day smartphone lineup as the most affordable option. For many consumers, the iPhone SE 4 could offer a better deal over the older iPhone 15 considering the former’s support for Apple Intelligence and overall longevity.
As far as the price is concerned, the iPhone SE 4 is expected to carry a starting price of USD 500, thereby putting it on par with the Google Pixel 8a, the upcoming Pixel 9a, Samsung’s Galaxy S24 FE and the OnePlus 13R.
