Toyota’s Latest EVs: The bZ3X and bZ3C

Both vehicles will most likely use LFP (lithium-iron-phosphate) batteries, developed by Chinese EV giant BYD. Technical specifications remain to be declared.

Toyota’s latest cars include an electric midsize SUV and an electric sedan, the bZ3X and bZ3C, respectively. These offerings EV were showcased in China at the 2024 Beijing Auto Show. These two vehicles are expected to launch in China next year, followed by their global debut. It is also worth mentioning that these cars are made under their respective collaborators. 

Toyota has jointly developed the bZ3C sport crossover with BYD for the Chinese market. The bZ3C sport crossover was first showcased as a concept in 2022 and has now been showcased in a near-production-ready avatar.

This car gets C-shaped connected LED DRLs and LED headlights, a sporty front lip, sharp-looking bumpers and gloss black inserts above the wheel arches and on the lower section of the car. 

The side profile of the Toyota bZ3C also looks gorgeous with big aerodynamic alloys and elegant-looking flush door handles. 

The rear of the sports crossover looks like a sedan because of the floating roof appearance and it also has a connected LED taillamp mounted on the boot lid, giving it a modern look, which is essentially a trend, nowadays.

The interior of the Toyota bZ3C is loaded with modern amenities such as ambient lights, a touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster and more. The car has red upholstery, and red inserts on the dashboard and the door trims are also finished in red for the sporty feel.

Toyota bZ3X: Expected Features & Launch Date

The bZ3X was first showcased last year as the BZ FlexSpace concept and has now been showcased in its production-ready avatar. Toyota has developed this SUV in collaboration with GAC Motor (Guangzhou Automobile Group Co. Ltd).

Some of the noteworthy features of the bZ3X include, full-width LED DRL, all LED lights, thick body cladding, flush door handles, and the vehicle also gets a connected LED tail light.

Inside the car, there is a big touchscreen infotainment screen mounted centrally on the dashboard, accompanied by another screen for the instrumentation unit. Additionally, this SUV also gets a big panoramic sunroof.

The brand states, “Both models are equipped with the latest driver-assistance systems and smart cockpits, delivering safe, comfortable driving alongside new experience value. Toyota will continue working toward a mobility future filled with smiles and diversity, catering to the needs of customers in every region.”

However, there is no exact information regarding the level of driver-assistance systems that will be deployed on these vehicles.

Both vehicles are most likely to be using LFP (lithium-iron-phosphate) batteries, developed by Chinese EV giant BYD. But the technical specifications such as the battery capacity, power, torque and range are yet to be declared. 

Lastly, these EVs are expected to launch in China later this year or early next year in 2025. The bZ3C is expected to be a China-only product, whereas the bZ3X may make its global debut after its China launch.
