The Tata Gold truck is based on the ladder-frame architecture with riveted/bolted cross members. The long member size of this chassis is 180mm in length, 55mm in width, and 5mm in thickness.
Further, this homegrown truck is available in cowl body chassis (CBC), full side deck (FSD), and high-deck load body (HDLB) configurations. The CBC and HDLB, however, have different overall lengths, heights and widths.
The overall length of the CBC body is 4687mm, while the HDLB body measures 4850mm. But the former is shorter (overall height) than the HDLB body, rated at 2280mm and 2790mm, respectively.
Finally, the overall width of the CBC version measures 1905mm, making it narrower than the HDLB variant’s 2100mm of width.
Irrespective of the body configuration, the wheelbase, deck length and gross vehicle weight are retained at 2955mm, 2529.8mm and 4650kg, respectively.
The 407 Gold truck has a generous ground clearance of 209mm, which is highly suitable for uneven roads, despite carrying a heavy load.
Tata 407 Gold SFC: Specifications
The Tata 407 Gold SFC’s engine is exclusive to the diesel fuel type. Powering this Tata truck is a 4SP TCIC BS6-compliant diesel unit, tuned to produce 100bhp of peak power at 2800rpm and 300Nm of peak torque between 1000-2200rpm.
This powertrain draws power via a five-speed manual transmission. This gearbox works with the single plate dry friction type (with booster) clutch.
The braking duties are taken care of by vacuum-assisted Hydraulic brakes to ensure a strong braking performance.
Besides that, the Tata Gold truck stands on a parabolic suspension, coupled with a hydraulic double-acting telescopic shock absorber at the front to ensure comfort for the passenger(s). And, the rear stands on a widely-used semi-elliptical leaf spring with shock absorbers to withstand the loading capacity.
This vehicle stores diesel in its 60-litre fuel tank.

The Tata 407 Gold truck has a power steering wheel with tilt and telescopic functions. It has a new-age digital instrument cluster which displays air pressure, speed, seat belt warning, temperature and fuel economy.

The price of the Tata 407 Gold SFC starts at Rs 10.75 lakh for the base variant, the 2955/CBC, and goes up to Rs 13.26 lakh for the top variant, the 2955/HDLB.
