Amidst the inception of the festive season in India, several carmakers have started offering generous discounts. Another reason behind the discounts offered is to challenge the recent slowdown in sales.

Those carmakers include Maruti Suzuki, Jeep, Kia, Mahindra, and Tata Motors, among others. Below are some models that can be purchased with heavy discounts.

Honda Elevate: Save upto Rs 75,000

The Honda Elevate is the only SUV in Honda India’s portfolio that competes with the Hyundai Creta, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, Kia Seltos, Toyota Hyryder, etc. This Honda SUV has benefits worth up to Rs 75,000, depending on the variant.

But it’s worth noting that these discounts are applicable for the units manufactured before April 2024. In parallel, the units manufactured after April have discounts worth Rs 65,000.

The price of the Honda Elevate ranges between Rs 11.91 lakh and Rs 16.51 lakh (ex-showroom).

Hyundai Alcazar: Save upto Rs 90,000

One of the main reasons behind the discounts on the Hyundai Alcazar is the introduction of the facelifted version (2024) of the Alcazar SUV (now starts from Rs 14.99 lakh, ex-showroom). The outgoing pre-facelift iteration has discounts worth Rs 90,000.

This discount is available in both 1.5-litre- turbo-petrol and turbo-diesel variants with manual and automatic configurations.

This three-row Alcazar SUV takes the likes of the Mahindra XUV700 and Tata Harrier.

Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara: Save upto Rs 1.28 Lakh

The discounts on the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara SUV are very generous as it’s worth Rs 1.28 lakh. Interestingly, the Vitara strong hybrid version has received the highest discount of Rs 1.28 lakh, while the mild hybrid and CNG variants have benefits worth Rs 73,100 and Rs 33,100, respectively.

All versions of the Grand Vitara are alone powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine, but have a different state of tune, depending on the variant (mild hybrid, strong hybrid or CNG).

Additionally, the all-wheel-drive system is limited to the top-spec of the mild-hybrid version of the Grand Vitara.

Kia Seltos: Save upto Rs 1.3 Lakh

The benefits worth this much on India’s one of the bestselling vehicles will make the competition even more challenging for its competitors. It has savings worth up to Rs 1.3 lakh! That includes an exchange bonus, a cash discount, and an accessories package. In addition, the saving amounts will vary from variant to variant. This feature-loaded facelifted Setos has three engine options: a 1.5-litre NA petrol, a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol, and a 1.5-litre diesel. All these engines are available in manual and automatic transmissions.

The 2024 Seltos price starts at Rs 10.90 lakh and goes up to Rs 20.37 lakh. These are ex-showroom figures, as of September 2024.

Tata Harrier: Save upto Rs 1.45 Lakh

This five-star safety-rated SUV also has discounts running. This five-seater SUV has discounts worth up to Rs 1.20 lakh, alone, and has an additional Rs 25,000 off on the MY2023 units. The mid-spec trims of the Harrier have been observed with a high number of savings.

It is also worth noting that the lower- and top-spec variants of the Tata Harrier have discounts worth up to Rs 70,000 and Rs 50,000, respectively.

Like the Tata Safari, the Harrier is also exclusively powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine, which produces 170bhp via a standard 6-speed manual and an optional 6-speed torque converter automatic unit.

The Tata Harrier SUV is priced between Rs 14.99 lakh and Rs 26.44 lakh. All are ex-showroom prices, as of September 2024. This SUV rivals the Jeep Compass, Mahindra XUV700, and MG Hector, among others.

Tata Safari: Save upto Rs 1.65 Lakh

The ongoing Tata Safari facelift has benefits ranging from Rs 50,000 and Rs 1.4 lakh. The MY2023 versions also have an additional discount of Rs 25,000 as a cash benefit.

The Safari’s mid-spec Pure + S and Pure + S Dark variants have the highest benefits, unlike the lowest version of the top-spec trim.

As far as the pricing is concerned, the Tata Safari’s price ranges between Rs 15.49 lakh and Rs 27.34 lakh. These are ex-showroom prices.

Jeep Meridian: Save upto Rs 2.8 Lakh

The Jeep Meridian is essentially a three-row and stretched version of the Jeep Compass. These two SUVs are also powered by the same powertrain\, as they house a 2.0-litre Multijet diesel engine that produces 168bhp at 3750rpm and 350Nm of peak torque at 1750rpm.

Besides that, the Jeep Meridian now has a cash discount worth up to Rs 2 lakh, plus Jeep Indiia is offering additional benefits that total discounts worth up to Rs 2.8 lakh.  The price of the Meridian SUV ranges between Rs 30 lakh and Rs 37.14 lakh.

This seven-seater vehicle directly rivals the Skoda Kodiaq, Volkswagen Tiguan, and MG Hector,  to name a few.

Mahindra XUV400: Save upto Rs 3 Lakh

This is an electric derivate of the sub-compact crossover SUV, the Mahindra XUV300 (now called XUV 3X0. This electric version is above the su-4m mark, and EVs don't have any benefits for making the vehicle under 4he 4m segment.

Selected Mahindra dealers are offering benefits worth up to Rs 3 lakh, especially on the XUV400  top-spec EL Pro variant. This version is powered by a 39.4kWh battery pack (456km MIDC range) and supports a faster 7.2kWh battery charger. The same EL Pro is also available with a smaller 34.5kWh battery pack which has slightly lower discounts.

The Mahindra XUV400 EV directly rivals the Tata Nexon EV, but it will also face heat from the upcoming MG Windsor EV (also called Cloud EV).

Volkswagen Taigun: Save upto Rs 3.07 Lakh

Volkswagen India recently announced heavy discounts on one of their bestselling SUVs, the Taigun.

This SUV has competitors such as the Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, Honda Elevate, Toyota Hyryder, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, and Skoda Kushaq, among others.

The maximum discount is exclusive to the 2023 manufactured Taigun 1.5 GT models, worth Rs 3.07 lakh. On the other hand, the 1.0-litre version of the Taigun has benefits ranging from Rs 60,000 to Rs 1.25 lakh.

However, the Volkswagen Taigun’s price ranges between Rs 11.70 lakh and Rs 20 lakh. These are average ex-showroom figures.

Jeep Compass: Save upto Rs 3.15 Lakh

As one might expect, Jeep India isn’t able to gain traction, as far as the Jeep Compass’ sales are concerned. The primary reason behind this is that this SUV is limited to the 2.0-litre diesel engine. However, it is available in both manual and automatic versions, plus the 4x4 setup is exclusive to the top-spec Model S variant.

Jeep India’s entry-level SUV rivals the Mahindra XUV700 and Tata Harrier and its price ranges between Rs 18.99 lakh and Rs 32.41 lakh. All are ex-showroom prices, as of September 2024.
