Interested prospects can now pre-book the upcoming new generation Mini Cooper S and Countryman. Reservations of these products can be made via the official website of Mini India.
For those unaware, the petrol iteration of the Mini Cooper S will go on sale first, followed by the all-electric version later. Besides that, the new fifth-generation Cooper is a three-door hatchback, while the Mini Countryman (third generation) is the company’s first made-in-Germany product. The latter continues to be offered in a five-door layout.
Exterior
The new generation of these two offerings has grown in size, albeit looking similar to their previous generations.
That being said, the 2024 Mini Cooper S now has a larger set of wheels and a slightly stretched wheelbase, but the most noticeable change is on the front end, as the overhangs and bonnet are now shortened.
In addition to that, the front fascia is more upright and has a newly designed octagonal grille, flanked by circular LED headlamps. Besides that, this three-door vehicle now has flush door handles, redesigned triangular-shaped LED tail lamps with an adjustable OLED tech, and a ‘Union Jack’ motif.
The overall silhouette of the 2024 Cooper S is retained and unmistakably identifiable.
As for the 2024 five-door Countryman, this vehicle has a length of 4433mm, a width of 1843mm, and a height of 1656mm, making it 60mm taller and 130mm longer than its predecessor.
In terms of design, the Countryman has similar design elements to the Cooper S, such as an octagonal grille, configurable LED DRLs (up to 3 lighting signatures), revamped C-pillars, and reprofiled LED lights at the front and rear. This vehicle runs on 20-inch alloy wheels.
Interior
The interiors of the Mini Cooper S and Countryman incorporate a redesigned driver-focused dashboard, complemented with textile inserts.

It is also worth noting that both models have a floating round-shaped OLED touchscreen infotainment unit, which measures 9.4 inches. Beneath it are mounted physical buttons for the gear selector and engine start/stop. A wireless charging tray can also be seen under the HVAC panel.

Furthermore, both 2024 Mini cars have electrically adjustable seats with massage functions, connected car technology, a fisheye in-car camera, and some ADAS functions.
It is worth mentioning that the Mini Countryman is the first and only Mini currently to have a full-fledged Level-2 ADAS.
Powertrains
In this department, the new Mini Cooper is available in petrol and electric versions.
As for the electric Mini Cooper, this hatch is offered in two different battery packs, E and SE. The Cooper E variant is powered by a 40.7kWh battery pack, which is capable of producing 181bhp and 290Nm of peak torque, while the SE version with a 54.2kWh battery pack generates 215bhp and 330Nm of torque.
The Cooper E has a range of 305km, while the SE has a range of 402km. Both are claimed figures.
On the other hand, the petrol-powered Mini Cooper has two engine options: a 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbocharged unit and a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged unit.
The former version, marketed as Cooper C, produces 154bhp, while the latter (marketed as Cooper S), produces 201bhp.
It is unclear which turbo-petrol engine will be offered in the India-bound Mini Cooper.
In parallel, the Indian-spec all-electric Countryman (Countryman E) is expected to have a front-mounted electric motor with a rear-wheel-drive setup. The international-spec with this setup generates 201bhp and 250Nm of torque. The claimed range of the Countryman E is rated at 462km. The precise battery specifications are yet to be declared.
Availability
The launch date of these two offerings is yet to be declared, and are expected to arrive within this year.
As mentioned earlier, both vehicles can be pre-booked via Mini India’s official website. In addition, as per sources, the 2024 Mini Countryman and Cooper are expected to follow the CBU route.
