As the title suggests, Bugatti is currently working on their new V16 hypercar; it will carry forward the legacy of the Bugatti Veyron and Chiron. For those who are unaware, the carmaker recently discontinued the production of the Chiron. As for the upcoming iteration, the manufacturer hasn’t decided on a name for the vehicle. However, the Molsheim brand indicated a potential moniker for this vehicle; referring to it as an “icon for eternity” (Pour l'éternité in French).
According to sources, the yet-to-be-named Bugatti V16 naturally-aspirated hybrid-based hypercar, which will also have a hybrid engine will make its global debut on June 20, 2024.
Bugatti V16 Hypercar: Design Language
The carmaker states that it will have a “completely bespoke” exterior. It will have design cues inspired by the Bugatti Type 35, Type 41 Royale, and Type 57 C Atlantic.
Further, as per the leaked image, the new iteration’s hood’s sculpted design, complemented by Bugatti’s iconic horseshoe grille is the notable point of the official teaser.
Besides that, there will be small LED lights on either end of the car and will retain the C-shaped (on the side profile) line as seen on the Chiron.
Like other Bugatti cars, the V16-powered hypercar is also expected to have a large diffuser, an active rear spoiler, and an aerodynamically enhanced rear deck.
Bugatti V16 Hypercar: Mechanical Highlights
The automobile manufacturer says that the platform of this vehicle will be completely new, it won’t be dependent on the Chiron’s foundations. Under the hood of this upcoming iteration, there will be a naturally aspirated V16 powertrain that will have a hybrid setup, complemented by three electric motors.
According to reports, the new engine with a hybrid setup will be capable of reaching 9000rpm and has an 8.3-litre engine displacement. The combustion engine is expected to produce an impressive 986bhp on its own, while the three electric motors will pump out an extra 335bhp of peak power. This vehicle is expected to power all four wheels via an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
It will most likely outperform the Bugatti Chiron. The upcoming model is said to do 0-100km/h in just 2 seconds, 200km/h in 5 seconds, 300km/h in 10 seconds, and 400km/h in 25 seconds.
Closing Words
Like all other car manufacturers, Bugatti is also essentially shifting towards the hybrid market. And, the upcoming hybrid-based V16 naturally-aspirated petrol engine is essentially the start of a new era for Bugatti.
The remaining details on the new iteration will be available on June 20, 2024.
