As we reported earlier, Kia India aims to add another compact vehicle to its portfolio for our market, which is likely to be called the Syros. That said, the Hyundai-owned Kia was again spotted testing that vehicle.

The Kia Syros will bridge the gap between Sonet and Seltos in Kia India’s lineup.

Things We Know So Far

Apart from the exterior, which we have already reported earlier, the images of the interior have also started circulating online. The latest spy shots of the Kia Syros’ interior depict a newly-designed two-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel, inspired by the Kia K4 sedan. The latter made its global debut earlier this year, alongside other newer Kia models overseas. However, it will also house an offset Kia emblem.

Moreover, the interior spy shots also revealed the dual displays, as seen on new-age Kia cars (for example Sonet and Seltos). It will reportedly comprise a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment unit. This vehicle also houses a few physical buttons mounted below the infotainment display and a rotary dial for volume adjustment.

Like the Kia cars in India, the Kia Syros is deemed to have a level-2 ADAS, ambient lighting, panoramic sunroof, wireless charging tray, Bose-sourced audio system, air purifier, ventilated front seats, drive modes, and power front seats, to name a few.

As far as the exterior is concerned, it will have LED headlights with LED DRLs, LED taillights and diamond-cut alloy wheels.

Talking about the design language, we assume that this upcoming Kia car may have the front fascia as the Kia Soul (a highly successful boxy compact SUV overseas) OR might be similar to the Kia Sorento with inverted L-shaped LED headlights. On the other hand, the rear end of this camouflaged vehicle echoes the design language of the Kia EV9 with vertically placed LED taillights, connected by a horizontal LED light bar.

In terms of powertrain, the Kia Syros will have both petrol and electric versions on offer. But first, the former iteration will be launched, followed by the launch of the electric version. It is also worth mentioning that both powertrains will be underpinned by the same platform and a hybrid version may also join the lineup later, in the future. Additionally, the Syros SUV will have a front-wheel-drive system.

However, we assume that the yet-to-be-named Kia compact SUV will share its petrol engines with the Kia Sonet.

Not many know about this, but the Kia Clavis (or likely to be called Syros) is internally called the Kia AY.

Launch

Reports suggest that this vehicle is likely to mark its India debut later this year or early next year. As mentioned earlier, it will be positioned above the Kia Sonet sub-four-metre SUV, which is currently priced at Rs 8 lakh (approx), ex-showroom, we can expect a slight premium from the former.
