For starters, Kia India is preparing to bring the Carens facelift and EV9 to our shores soon. The Hyundai-owned automobile manufacturer Kia was recently spotted testing another vehicle, called the Syros. This vehicle is internally codenamed ‘Clavis’.

As per sources, the Kia Syros will be strategically positioned as it is expected to enter the popular sub-four-metre market in India. That said, it will bridge the gap between Kia Sonet and Seltos. Once launched, the Kia Syros will take the likes of the Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, and Tata Nexon.

Kia Syros: Anticipated Design

Inspired by the international-spec Soul, the upcoming Kia Syros incorporates a distinctive design language, thanks to the tall pillars and a boxy and upright stance, translating to a roomy cabin. In addition, it may also indicate a generous and better boot space than the Kia Sonet.

As for the Syros’ exterior, this upcoming sub-4m Kia car has a bold design, and the images reveal that it’s expected to have a clamshell bonnet, flanked by vertically-positioned LED headlamps with LED DRLs. Seeing the side profile, the tall pillars indicate ample headroom.

Meanwhile, the rear end of the Kia Syros features an L-shaped LED rear illumination positioned on the rear pillars, complemented by indicating lights on the lower section of the rear bumper.

The roof rails are also visible, plus it stands on a 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheel.

Kia Syros: Other Offerings

Since it will be a sub-four-metre car, which will be positioned above the Kia Sonet, the upcoming Syros is expected to have two types of powertrains on offer: a 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated petrol unit and a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol unit. The former produces 82bhp and 114Nm of peak torque, while the latter produces 118bhp and 172Nm of torque.

It is expected to carry over the offerings from the Kia Sonet, as far as the features are concerned. One can expect a 360-degree camera, dual screens, wireless- Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, six airbags, ambient lighting, a sunroof, auto headlamps, a JBL-sourced audio system, and a leatherette upholstery, to name a few.

Availability

There is no official announcement regarding the launch from Kia India. However, as per speculation, the Kia Syros is expected to debut in our country in early 2025.
