The Indian division of the Korean carmaker Hyundai has now launched the Aura CNG with dual-cylinder technology. The dual-CNG technology was initially available with the Exter and Grand i10 Nios. The base-spec ‘E’ variant of the Aura sedan has received the same CNG-based technology. It is priced at Rs 7.49 lakh (ex-showroom).

It is worth noting that the CNG powertrain was limited to the mid-spec S and SX variants, and had a starting price of Rs 8.31 lakh (ex-showroom).

However, let’s delve into the offerings of the Hyundai Aura’s CNG-based ‘E’ trim.

Exterior

Since the new CNG technology is given to the base-spec ‘E’ trim of the Hyundai Aura, this specific iteration has the basic exterior offerings, such as the halogen headlights, fender-mounted turn indicators, and 14-inch steel wheels. But it does get black inserts on the ORVMs and door handles, plus it has Z-shaped wraparound LED tail lamps. But no foglamps are present.

Interior and Features

The Hyundai Aura CNG E trim carries a basic interior, like the exterior. The cabin has a dual-tone colour scheme of grey and beige, plus the seats are made of soft fabric. Additionally, all seats get fixed headrests and 3-pointer seatbelts.

As far as the features are concerned, the Hyundai Aura has a fully analogue instrument cluster with a multi-information display (MID) in the centre, a manually-operated HVAC, a cooled glove box, a 12V charging socket, and front power windows.

In terms of safety, the Aura CNG ‘E’ variant is equipped with ABS with EBD, seatbelt reminders for all passengers, rear parking sensors, and 6 airbags.

Powertrains

The 2024 Hyundai Aura E CNG version has a 1.2-litre engine with CNG support that produces 69 PS and 95 Nm of peak torque. This engine is limited to the 5-speed manual transmission, as it misses out on an optional AMT gearbox.

Pricing and Rivals

As mentioned above, the new 2024 E CNG trim of the Hyundai Aura is priced at Rs 7.49 lakh. Otherwise, the price of this sub-4m sedan ranges between Rs 6.49 lakh and Rs 9.05 lakh. So, in that price range, you get alternatives like the Tata Tigor, Honda Amaze, and Maruti Suzuki Dzire.
