Toyota Kirloskar Motor has added another rebadged iteration to its portfolio, the Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor.

Currently, the shared models between these two Japanese carmakers include:

1) Toyota Innova Hycross- Maruti Suzuki Invicto

2) Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder- Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara

3) Toyota Rumion- Maruti Suzuki Ertiga

4)Toyota Glanza- Maruti Suzuki Baleno

The fifth model is the Toyota Taisor- a rebadged version of the Maruti Suzuki Fronx

EXTERIOR DIFFERENCES

The new Toyota car has received some cosmetic changes to keep its identity set apart.

The most significant change is the front fascia. The Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor has a new honeycomb grille. Above the grille, there is a horizontal Toyota’s signature chrome bar plating, which is flanked by the LED headlamps. The lower section of their front bumpers has an identical foglamp setup.

If you see the Taisor and Fronx, you can distinguish them easily, but identifying the Urban Cruiser Taisor and Toyota Hyryder may let you put in some effort.

The side profile of these two vehicles remains the same, but the tyre design is different with the same rim size. The top variants of these two vehicles stand on 16-inches alloy rims. The Fronx has a ‘geometric alloy wheel’, while the Urban Cruiser Taisor has a ‘machined alloy wheel.’

At the rear, both sub-compact crossover SUVs have an LED sweeping taillight but have slight design differences.

However, these two homegrown sub-four-metre SUVs have an identical shape and silhouette.

INTERIOR DIFFERENCES

The Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor has almost the same features as the Maruti Suzuki Fronx. But both of them have a slightly different upholstery colour scheme. The Toyota Taisor has a dual-tone setup like the Maruti Suzuki Fronx but with slight differences. The interior colour scheme is also nearly identical in these two vehicles.

However, the new Urban Cruiser Taisor will welcome you with a more premium-looking 9-inch floating touchscreen infotainment unit. Both vehicles have an Arkamys-sourced infotainment unit of the same size but have different wallpapers.

Please note that some variants of these two vehicles also offer a 7-inch infotainment unit.

Further, both vehicles offer Apple CarPlay and Android Auto (both wireless) and have connected car technology.

The only difference is the brand logo embossed on the multi-functional steering wheel. Both vehicles can be had with paddle shifters but are limited to the automatic variants. In parallel, both vehicles have a nearly identical instrument cluster but with slight background theme differences.

These two vehicles also have automatic headlamps, LED headlamps, and UV-cut window glasses. However, the Toyota Taisor and Maruti Fronx still miss out on a rain-sensing wiper.

On the safety front, both have six airbags (dual in lower variants), anti-theft alarms, ABS with EBD, an engine immobiliser, a rear camera with guidelines and sensors, a speed-sensing door lock, ISOFIX child-seat anchorages, and an impact-sensing door unlock.
