Have you ever wondered if the Apple Watch on your wrist could unlock and manage certain digital features on your Mercedes Benz? Courtesy of Mercedes’ new app for the Apple Watch, You no longer need to wonder.

For years, Mercedes-Benz customers have had the luxury of managing certain aspects of their cars and SUVs, which wear the prestigious three-pointed star badge, from the comfort of their mobile phones. Be it remotely switching on the air conditioning prior to embarking on your journey or ensuring the estimated range, the Mercedes-Benz app on iPhones and Android devices offers the ability to have a digital insight into the various aspects of your car.

Now though, Mercedes-Benz has brought the same convenience to the wrists of those who wear an Apple Watch.

Mercedes-Benz Apple Watch app: What it offers

The Apple Watch app, which Mercedes says was created upon request from existing customers, extends most of the benefits offered by the smartphone app.

With the Apple Watch app, you will be able to enjoy certain benefits like locating your car on the map, checking the status of your door locks remotely, checking whether the windows are lowered or fully shut and operating the air conditioner remotely. The ‘locating car’ feature allows your Apple Watch to chart a pedestrian way to your parked Mercedes. When there’s no GPS available, the app relies on the Apple watch’s compass app to nudge you in the right direction.

The app also gives you a quick glance at all the components that you could forget to close, like the sunroof or the trunk lid. You can even check whether the parking brake has been engaged or not!

Regardless of whether you recharge or refuel, the Mercedes app on your Apple Watch will give you an estimated range of driving. EV owners can also keep track of the charging status remotely.

How to get the Mercedes-Benz Apple Watch app

Mercedes-Benz has rolled out its Apple Watch app in Europe and over the coming weeks, customers in the US, Asia-Pacific and Chinese regions will also get to download the Apple Watch app.
