BMW has launched the iX xDrive50 in India at Rs 1.4 Crore (avg. ex-showroom). The BMW iX is now offered in two variants: the xDrive40 and xDrive50. This variant offers a longer driving range, better performance, and a few changes here and there to give an identity.
BMW India continues to follow the CBU route for the iX XDrive50 variant.
Build, Design & Features
At the front end, the BMW iX has a glorifying kidney grille, and slim LED headlights, and the whole exterior design contains muscular body panels to give the design of this car a character.
As for features, they are carried forward from xDrive40 to xDrive50, but exclusive additions include 22-inch aerodynamically optimized alloy wheels, adaptive suspension, and upsized tyre profiles. There are also optional accessories such as BMW ‘Laserlight’ and Titanium Bronze exterior finish, and ventilated seats. However, it gets massaging seats as standard.
The BMW iX xDrive50 has a long list of features. It includes a curved display in which the instrument cluster measures 12.3 inches, while the infotainment unit measures 14.9 inches. Further, it has wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, gesture controls, a heads-up display, a 360-degree camera, a wireless charger, a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, etc.
Performance
BMW has given xDrive50 a new dual motor all-wheel drive system which produces 523hp & 765nm of peak torque and this propels this behemoth from 0 to 100kph in just 4.6 seconds. The SAV gets a 111kWh battery pack with a WLTP claimed range of 635km. As per BMW, the car can be charged from 10 to 80% in just 35 minutes using a 195KW DC fast charger, with a 50KW DC charger the charging time will be 97 minutes and 5.5 hours with a 22KW AC charger, and 11 hours with an 11KW AC charger.
Rivals
BMW iX xDrive50 goes head-to-head against the Mercedes Benz EQE SUV (1.39 Crore), Jaguar I-Pace (1.26 Crore), and Audi Q8 e-tron (starts at 1.14crore). All are average ex-showroom prices, as of March 2024.
