Ducati India recently launched the Hypermotard 698 Mono in our country for Rs 16.50 lakh (ex-showroom). This iteration is the company's first production-spec single-cylinder engine in over 30 years. The Hypermotard 698 Mono borrows design cues from its powerful sibling, the Hypermotard 950.

The Ducati Hypermotard is a feature-loaded iteration that hosts all-LED lighting at the front and rear. Besides that, this bike features several electronics, such as ride-by-wire, Bosch cornering ABS, traction control, engine brake control, wheelie control, and four riding modes: sport, road, urban, and wet. Further, this Ducati 698 iteration has a tall stance, a wide handlebar, a single-piece bench seat, and a sleek tail.

Specifications

Powering the Hypermotard 698 Mono is a 659cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine, making it half of the Ducati Panigale 1299's Superquadro V-Twin engine. It is, however, worth noting that the Superquadro 698 Mono has the most powerful production-spec single-cylinder engine.

The Ducati Hypermotard 698 has a peak power output of 76.43 bhp at 9,750 rpm and a maximum torque output of 63 Nm at 8,000 rpm, all supported by a Termignoni racing exhaust. The engine transfers power to the rear wheel via a 6-speed gearbox with a slip-assist clutch.

The steel trellis frame, cast alloy wheels, and Marzocchi-sourced suspension support this bike to stand. Ducati offers a 45mm aluminium upside-down suspension on the front and a fully adjustable Sachs mono-shock suspension on the rear.

Disc brakes with aluminium flange discs, up to 17 per cent lighter than regular discs, handle the braking duties. There’s a 330 mm unit up front, with a Brembo M4.32 calliper, radial pump, and adjustable lever. At the rear is a 245-mm disc with a single-piston floating calliper. Rubber from Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV covers both the front and rear wheels.

Price

The Italian automobile manufacturer Ducati has priced the Hypermotard 698 Mono at Rs 16.50 lakh in India. It is approximately Rs 50,000 more expensive than the Hypermotard 950 RVE in our country.
