If you are worried about high petrol prices and low mileage of your bike then Bajaj’s upcoming CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) bike might solve all your problems.

CNG is used commonly in cars as a cost-effective and more efficient alternative to Petrol. Now Bajaj is coming up with the world’s first bike that'll run on CNG fuel.

Rajiv Bajaj (MD of Bajaj Auto) has stated in a recent interview with CNBC-TV18 that they have been working on the CNG bike for a long time now. Bajaj also said, “We are actually preponing the CNG motorcycle launch to the next quarter.”

Considering that we only have petrol and electric bikes in India, this is going to be an interesting launch as electric vehicles are expensive to acquire and petrol prices are ever rising.

In terms of design and build, these bikes are going to look exactly like any 100-150cc commuter bikes on in the market today with the only difference of having a CNG tank, which may be placed under the seat to give motorcycles a neat look.

Bajaj won’t be launching a single bike, they have plans to build a whole portfolio of CNG bikes. Since these bikes are targeting price-conscious value-seeking customers, we expect their engine capacity to be between 100cc and 150cc range.

CNG-powered engines are more efficient than the petrol one but they lack in performance, which is why most CNG vehicles have an option to switch to petrol to use the full capacity of the vehicle, whenever needed. We hope Bajaj will do the same for their upcoming line of CNG bikes.

CNG as a fuel is not only inexpensive and more efficient but also more enviroment friendly. It emits less harmful gases from the tailpipe. Hence, these upcoming Bajaj motorcycles are exciting for so many reasons.

As of now, there aren’t any comments on the pricing but considering the segment and target audience, we can safely assume the starting price of these bikes will be somewhere between Rs 80,000 to 1,25,000.
